SANFL'S PREFERRED COMMERCIAL TV PARTNER

http://www.sanfl.com.au/news/sanfl_news/2162/

The SANFL has announced its preferred commercial TV partner for the 2014 season, with the Seven Network to broadcast SANFL league games live each week under a proposed three-year agreement. The agreement would see one SANFL league match broadcast live each round on Seven from the 2014 season. SANFL Executive Commissioner Leigh Whicker said the league was now seeking partners to fund the agreement. The League has negotiated the live broadcast production with McGuire Media, which would rotate around the SANFL’s suburban venues.

The proposal includes:
- Five to six cameras at every broadcast game
- Guaranteed media and cross-promotion across the Seven Networks
- Coverage of SANFL Finals.

Good luck finding those funding partners for a league without Port Adelaide in it. The serfs will be emancipated and all those sanfl overlords will be left rotting in their decaying mansions smoking cigars and drinking brandy talking about the good old days when they could attract crowds to suburban grounds. They're dead and they just don't know it.

How fitting.

Lets pay a commercial network to telecast our league that very few people watch. :thumbsu: Lets take money from the AFL teams to do it :thumbsu:. Seriously, not to get into a political argument here, but if John Olsen took this type of proposal to a Liberal Party function, he'd be tarred a Trotskyite.

The egos at the SNAFL are simply insatiable. They will pay what ever it costs to promote their belief that they are the second best Aussie Rules competition in the universe.

I can imagine Wee Licker and John-Wayne Olsen singing this to their reflections in the mirror;

Channel 7 will be so happy when 110 people tune in to watch South V Centrals at Noarlunga.

And those who can't tune in to watch due to AFL attending commitments will be able to see the scores flashed up on the Adelaide Oval Superscreens every 2 minutes, thank god!!!!

McGUIRE MEDIA =
EDDIE McGUIRE -
The AFL Club President who has declared Collingwood's interest in building an U-16s and U-18s feeder structure exactly like the Port Magpies have had for eons.

COS CARDONE -
Chief Executive Officer, McGuire Media;
Director, Port Adelaide Football Club 2012 – current.

SANFL going to bed with the enemy ?
There would appear to be at least a couple of black & white knives under the pillow.
On form, the SANFL won't have thought to sign a pre-nup.

I would hazard a guess and say that, besides finals, the most lucrative viewing audiences would come when the afl reserves teams are involved. That makes the reserve debate even more pressing if they want to attract investors to fund production costs.

Have to luv the term negotiated.

Conjures up memories of that brutal saying by Kerry Packer when buying back CH 9 with petty cash from Alan Bond........."You only get one Alan Bond in your lifetime"

It's cute that the SANFL is enjoying spending most of 2013 acting like it's still 1985 and releasing important media documents and talking about the future of football with authority. Dropping a press release to the world that the SANFL has chosen 7 to host it's weekly live match like it's a very important decision and expecting this announcement to secure sponsors to fund it is the crest of their throw back year.

Probably only reason they are taking it is it's cheap local content to produce if they have the costs covered by the SANFL and its a few hours on a saturday afternoon that isn't exactly prime time.

Wait, reading that it appears that Channel 7 has not agreed to anything here, it's just the SANFL wanting Ch 7 to do it? Surely even if true it could only be on 7mate and not the main station which generally is showing the footy they paid hundreds of millions for?

Seriously what company in their right mind would sponsor this? The Ravens perhaps?
