Discussion on forward prospects for 2010.

Taken from the DT board, seems to work well.

I'll kick it off with everyone's favourite man to love and hate, Buddy Franklin.

Priced at $466 Buddy appears to be a steal. Took a couple of steps backwards last year and averaged 20 points less than he did the year before .. which probably coincided with the Hawks struggling. Has a couple of niggling injuries and has a history of giving away undisciplined free kicks week in week out but imo Buddy has too much upside to ignore.

Will miss the first week through suspension though so be sure you have at least one playing reserve.

I dislike Duddy too, however if you intend to get him during the year, then you might as well get the Duddy in the first round....

I've got Duddy and Hall in my side...LOL....

I'm deciding on Birdman and Hall...Birdman looks okay for his price... and Hall has a great ceiling (and floor), however he is in a great team [but has a temper]

Tippett is my question.. I like the fact that if you have Tippett in the forward and Lobbes in Ruck, it's security with Dual.... but having Tippett blocks me having full premium for my forwards..

Hall/Burton for me is hedging my bets...gets some points and potential to be keeper..

My dilemma is (Hall+Waite) v (Burton+Drummond/Heater/Lake)

i would like to think A.Goodes has a good chance to kick bags this year as well if he plays more forward. could get to the high 180 if he kicks 8 and playes half forward but comes with a high price tag.

A.Goodes - $607,200

also R.Murphy, P.Mephurst, M.Willams all have good chances of haveing an 80+ avrage this session and have low price tags.

R.Murphy - $353,800
P.Mephurst - $320,400
M.Willams - $303,600

Tom Rockliff anyone? A lazy 142 in a losing side today. Exceptional efficiency too with 87 dt points. Not sure if he'd be in their top 22 though.

Rockliff maybe a good sub if he gets games. Don't think he'll score nearly as close as that in the real season.

How bout the birdman as a 7th. I only want or need him for 6-8 weeks unless of course he could see out a full year so could work out to be a perfect cow.

Ben Warren at 260K is a pretty good bet IMO. Will play all 25 games and would expect him to be our 2nd/3rd forward option.

but 3rd tall in a low scoring team is nothing, he wont srore as high as the others metioned.

<$350k forwards are a nightmare this year - bench players even more so.

David Hale anyone? Had a shocking 2009, but averaged 81.5 in 2008. Is cheap, seems determined to get back to his best, and with a new coach, could be one to watch. Thoughts?

I'm continuing the trend of getting midfielders into the forward line so Ziebell and Dangerfield are a must for me as they are both on the up and at a good price.

Getting Impromptu's favorite man in Duddy Franklin too, just can't say no to him at his price even though he sh1ts me to tears at times. Hopefully he is in for a more consistant season this year. :o

Burton I don't really trurst, can't see him getting through a whole season and will be a bit hot and cold considering the crows have Porps, Tippet, Walker, etc all in the one forward line.

Ben Warren could be interesting to get, would be out of him and Ziebell I reckon, wouldn't have both.

Wonaeaomirri is still injured so I would stay away from him, he might be a good downgrade option later on though. :)

Just my 2 cents worth. :thumbsu:

Burton will miss 6 weeks with his left knee requiring surgery. Steer well clear :)

Boomer? Is anyone going near Stevie Johnson? Hard to make of the assessments on his hip, had a good intraclub by all reports. Not a bad price if he's fit.

Interesting to hear what people are doing with positions 7, 8 & 9. Personally its been the hardest spot picking a cheapie to start and then two bench players.

I've gone with Wona, Rockcliff and Casboult. And I'm really not sure on any of them

Giansiracusa looks a lock...stronger body this year, playing in a side that kicks alot of goals and will win alot games this year.

What about Burton this year at a basement price???

Dennis-Lane, Tapscott and Rockliff. Maybe Moore.
