Re: Round 4 trades

For those that have L.Shuey is it worth trading him to Moles/Bail this week? Or is that a waste of trade? Considering he is supposed to be a cash cow and is now sidelined? [3 to 6 weeks?]

So i.e. Trade Shuey to Moles, pocket ~$60k and Moles should also go up an additional ~$60K this week and more so thereafter pending on his job security.

Or is a trade worth more than that?

I've been asked myself this too, with exactly the same thought process. Here's what I think:

a) At the moment the 3-6 weeks for a fractured knee cap is a rumour based off an anonymous comment on a Herald-Sun news story as far as I can tell. The only "credible" source I've found says he's been carrying it (http://www.lmsc.com.au/index.php?page=news&id=1302) which doesn't sound like the allegedly fractured knee. Nothing concrete though.
b) If you've still got a number of good playing cash cows (Maguire, Silvagni, Gumbleton, Peterson, Hitchcock, Farmer, Martin, Bastinac, Trengove, etc) and good cover then I wouldn't be too concerned because you have a number of other options to downgrade in the meantime.
c) No one's putting up Beau Muston or Barlow type scores that you can trade in this week. Bail and Moles are solid but not spectacular.
d) Last year I did similar trades for not much cash and it didn't pay off at the end of the year so I'm not too enthuiastic this year.

In other words I won't be trading him unless something concrete comes out saying he's gone for six weeks or more, or injuries decimate my midfield in the meantime.

am in the same situation....i am thinking of trading to moles, but will wait until i hear something concrete on what is wrong with him first. dont want to trade him then it comes out that he is only out a week and the fractured knee cap is just a rumour.

Re: Round 4 trades

Job sercuirty wise is moles better of then Rohan Bail, another option if you are wanting to trade your cash cow.?

I am in the same boat, and have toyed with the idea.

Re: Round 4 trades

I'm considering the same thing as the few above me offloading Shuey for Moles. My other mid bench player id Jarrod Kayler-Thompson who isn't getting a game so might need to make this trade or else suffer from a serious lack of players to downgrade. At least i've got Maguire, Silvagni and Peterson on my bench making me a lot of cash.

Re: Round 4 trades

Moles will surely play more now Picken is out for 2 months

Hmm, thinking of doing

Option 1 - Medhurst > Higgins + 41.5k
Option 2 - Medhurst > Rioli + 107.9k

Options are financed by the Roo > Pav deal..

Re: Round 4 trades

Roo > Cyril

Roberts > Pods

Got over $200K in the bank. Eventually looking at trading Pods to another young forward to increase the cash some more then add some more premiums to a midfield already containing Cooney, Dal Santo, Pendlebury

Re: Round 4 trades

The problem with waiting on the extend of Luke Shuey's injuries is that if we don't know by today may potentially miss out on the Moles/Bail cash cow boat. Not sure what to do yet will probably do a last minute decision closer to lockout!

Re: Round 4 trades

Sorry guys posting this again as I had no response

Thoughts on this trade

Roo > Chapman & Schnieder/Gia > Rioli/Brennan - I am willing to take the risk on Rioli given his current inj concerns. However I do want to get Brennan into my team.

My current fwd line:

Gia , Roo (to be traded) , Brown, Schneider, Medhurst, Betts,Danger,

Emg: Pods & Rockcliff

My other issue is I have Conners. Should I trade him out this week and bring in either Bail/Moles

Do the Riewoldt trade and get rid of Connors to Bail or Moles. By the end of the year, I'm not convinced Rioli or Brennan will be significantly better than Schneider or Gia.

Thanks mate for the feedback. I am just disappointed with both Gia AND Schneider at the moment but I guess I will continue with them as I had them as keepers from the start.

Re: Round 4 trades

Righto lads, that time of the week again...

So i'm trying to decide who to get for Reiwoldt. I already have ROK, Brown, Pav and don't have enough for Chappy (otherwise I would get straight on him)... Therefore i'm looking at:

Riewodlt- Rioli and then next week I can go Hall-Goodes or use the $180k elsewhere..

What do people think? Too risky? Should I just jump on Harvey or Higgins instead? Higgins is looking super consistent.... hmm...

I'm actually looking at nicking off Medhurst and replacing him with Higgins, better player that's for sure.. looks also to be past his fitness worries..

Pete Why not Riewodlt > Rioli/Higgins and Hall > Harvey/Higgins? Or maybe even Bob Murphy if you are game enough. ;)

Ive gone for Higgins and next week im going Medhurst to Harvey.

Read somewhere Medhurst has been a struggler in recent seasons against the Hawks not being able to better more then 65 or something? BE this week is around 86 which is a tough assignment.. Que Higgins vs Rioli now??

Surely Higgins has to be the better option, Rioli is the more unique selection at the moment but we will see his number of selections boom with Roo going down, thats over 50% of people who will be trading this week. Higgins is quite concistant rearly going under 100 with the odd 130+ game while with rioli you will get quite a few sub 70 scores, just look at his 09 stats.

Yeah that could work too.. My only problem is I think Goodes will probably be a better scorer than Harvey/Higgins/Murphy. So I think ideally I'd have Higgins and Goodes but cash flow is prohibiting this, hence Rioli.. Plus Rioli could well pull some huge scores this year and thus would be a good pick. Particularly if he plays all year and finds some consistency.

I just wish I could see into the future and see whether or not Rioli WILL break out this year, play all games and average 100...

and now this article comes out:
http://www.hawthornfc.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/4742/newsid/92409/default.aspx

not sure what to make of this!!?
A) Positive. He's scoring 140 whilst being not quite fully fit, imagine when he's fully fit!!
B) Negative. His groins are still troubling him and he will likely miss games because of that..

Also, his average against Collingwood is only 52.....

:confused::confused:

Re: Roberts Vs Shuey

Hi Guys,

I have a couple of dilemmas,

I have both Relton Roberts (FWD) and Luke Shuey (MID) as rookies on the becnh however Shuey is now out between 3-6 weeks (after having 1 price rise of 50k).

Relton Roberts has been dropped from the tigers lineup and given his performances (avg of about 15) he wont increase by anything even when he does play his third game.

Should I be doing a sideways trade for either of these guys to earn some cash?

If roberts, I can wait to next week and trade in rockliff or pods? Which would be the better option here?

If Shuey, this weeks options to make some cash are Moles & Rohan Bail - both will play their 3rd game this weekend.

What to do?? I have 18 trades left after trading roo to JBrown?

Yeah its a tough 1, you look at his performance against the cats and the was quite good, ran down GAJ on 3 occasions, Then backs it up with a 140 against the dogs in a loss mind you. Concistancy is definatly the key, and wether you can trust him enough, for a season long haul. Goodes tends to finnish of the year well, I will be looking to trade of Ballantyne or Dangerfield mid year for him but certianly not this early. Bob murphy has injury issues so I wouldnt grab him, I know a couple of ppl jumping on Benny McGlyn, that is a big no no I think, 1 of the biggest SC rules is dont chase last weeks points. Finally Harvey, never really had soft tissue injury, will always be the top scorer at North and always getting the ball from his teammates and really knows how to use the pill, super accurate, speedy and a great finisher at goal. Tough decisions mate.

I know Rioli is the 'buzz' selection at the moment. Plus I am getting caught up with his 'delicious' skills :thumbsu: I know he has his down days and the article written today is interesting. Only reason why I'm looking at him is because he is about 60k cheaper.. Otherwise, yes it's Higgins for me. More consistent, seemingly over his injury problems and playing in a better team. Both players would be treated as keepers.

Yeah thats the thing, I thought he is gunna be in as a keeper, very concistant so I couldnt over look him, Wats going to happen wen Franklin or Mitchell have 1 of thier 150+ point games he will surely be lost in the back ground were as the 2 dogs games I watched Higgins was a key part of their attack going foward, he was always involved in plays that led to goal. You have to remember Rioli is only in his 3rd year so could make errors and still has a groin injury hanging over him, OP is something that will attack the younger players, Higgins looks to be over that period.

Hmm i'm very very stumped with this one...

As stated the thing with Rioli is consistency... Higgins has that part covered. Then again he (Rioli) has looked pretty consistent so far (though it's only been two games). If Hawthorn had have won that game against Geelong I would estimate that Rioli's score would have been more like 100-105 than 82 or so. I remember checking at 3 quarter time and alot of the Hawthorn players were on track for tons (Mitchell, Franklin, Rioli) and then they ended up with 80's and 90's after Geelong got the win.

So what does this add to the debate? A lot more confusion for me that's what ...
