I'm sure some of you on this board will be able to share some moments you experienced or others you know have that left you scared shitless or traumatised.

I'm talking about real things like being stalked, robbed, threatened, seeing burglars etc. Or seeing something traumatic.

I was scared shitless by tradies who had recently been working on our property and were dropping off their final invoice at the door. Saw three figures through one of those special types of glass near the front door and shat myself.

Also was told about a family member's co-worker's friend who went through a messy split from her partner and drove home one night to see two men with balaclavas at her front door. She got out of there quickly.

Your go.

If the invoice was only three figures then why shat yourself ?
That's bloody cheap

When I was 18 I thought I'd got my girlfriend at the time pregnant. Terrifying.

I got *** bashed once, twelve or so onto three. Once the shock disppeared and the injuries healed, I had a hard time getting my head around the fact that someone would want to beat the shit out of me just for who I am, it took a good year or so to get over that mentally. Fifteen years later I still have a hard time believing that anyone could be so stupid and narrow minded. It's still comfortably one of the worst experiences I've ever had.

Think I've told this here before but anyway, I woke up one night at 4am and there was a guy outside the window trying to pry it open.

The scarey / weird part was I called my dad and uncle who was staying with us, so 3 vs 1 (that we could see anyway) and instead of running, the guy started kicking the shit out of the window, throwing stuff at it, doing everything he could to get inside. He must have been on meth or some kind of black belt ready to take on 3 guys at once. Anyway after a few minutes of desperately trying to get inside like his life depended on it, he gave up and ran off.

My sister called 000 while he was bashing his way into the house, she's telling them a psychopath is trying to get inside and kill us, just like a horror movie, hysterical. Well, 4 hours later, a couple of obese cops roll up, struggle to walk a lap of the house, tell us we should replace the window and then leave. Just incase anyone had any delusions about the police protecting you / your family in a situation like this.

It makes me so freaking mad when you hear of someone getting in trouble for defending their house against a burgler, since I have seen first hand the police absolutely won't do ****, it seems your only legal option is to stand there and let them beat you, rape your family and rob you

I couldn't be bothered going into details but I was held at gun point in Kyrgyzstan once. I have told the story on here before if you really want to know and could be bothered searching it.

I worked at the Australian War Memorial from 2007 to 2009. One day I was chatting to a middle age couple. They were pretty laid back, but asking a lot of questions and very curious about the Memorial, especially the reflective pool and roll of honour (all the names of those fallen during the wars). Towards the end of our conversation, they mentioned that their son had recently died in Afghanistan. I was really shocked by this, as they were so unassuming.

We had an incident like that about 10-15 years ago.About 2am in the morning a drunk guy is belting at the front door saying "Let me in".We told him we'd call the cops if he didn't piss off.He walks around the back yard and starts belting the back door, then back around front. We called the cops and they arrived not long after and put him in a divy van and took him away.Next day the cops ring and tell the guy was from QLD,but use to live nearby, and he was staying with friends in a nearby street. He'd been at the local football club [about 10 minutes walk] and while walking home he got mugged and bashed by a couple of guys in a car that were driving by and was suffering concussion [wasn't charged].The cops asked if we saw any suspicous cars around that time, which I had.A car was going up the street stopping at every driveway obviously looking for the bloke again.

Next time, call them back 2 minutes later.

"Never mind, Dad got him with the shotty."

I've had a few 'close encounters'.

One of our old houses had a long hallway either side of the front entrance. Small house, and when the front door opened, it went right to the side of the hallway, blocking off the house.

To avoid waking the family, I wouldn't bother turning on lights at night-time, and had gone to the toilet about 3am or so. Walking back, I remember thinking it strange the street light was so bright, before realising the front door was open. A second later the light was blocked out as someone came out of the lounge. I called out, and they bolted through the doorway, smashing the glass entry way on the way through, and then tripped on (and broke) our fence they tried to jump. If they had turned left instead of right, I would have been between them and the exit.

Next day a guy around the corner had a busted ankle, and his right hand in bandages, but the police never found anything. (Silly me asked about testing the blood on the window, fingerprints on the door, etc).

Driving my car on a random stretch of highway, when a heap of bikers come over the hill in my mirrors. I was on my 'P' plates, so only doing 80(ish).

They came up, around, and then slowed to the same speed - 4 in front, a dozen behind, and on all sides. One started tapping on my window, telling me to pull over.

I didn't know what to do, so kept driving for a few minutes, but they didn't move on. Eventually came to a truck rest-stop, and pulled over. They all stopped, surrounding my car.

The 'leader' took off his helmet, and opened my door. I remember seeing the tatts covering his arms, and massive black beard, like something out of a b-grade pirate movie.

"Your brake-lights are out".

More recently, lying in bed late at night, and heard our front door open.

After a few moments of "am I dreaming", or wondering if family, we heard someone thump into the wall (our entry-way is S-shaped).

I got up, put on some shorts, and grabbed a slipper. (A slipper?)

Opened the bedroom door and yelled out.

Guy ran from lounge, pushed me in chest to get past and ran out the front door.

I got back up, and (barefoot, topless) chased him up the street, going through the neighbours yard before he jumped a back fence and I gave up.

Later that morning, the police said they'd caught him, had been on bail for another burglary, and had knives on him when they caught him. That scared me. (a Slipper? WTH)

He didn't live nearby, was driving to our specific street, which is strange - of the 24 houses, there are 7 police families, and a unit complex where rookies live whilst training. There's more police in my street than civilians, and this was the street he chose?

My mum got a shock today. She went to close the front door but while she was closing it she said it felt like someone was trying to push back on it and force their way in. She said that she got the fright of her life until she realised that one of my nephew's balloons was between the screen door and front door.

few years back I was at the famous "Cott" pub in Cottesloe Perth, mate of mine got into a small argument with a guy..he blatantly bumped into my mate and started on him/being cheeky. My mates quite a big bloke so he wasn't going to hold back... This cheeky little sh*t runs off just as things where about to get heated ( at this stage there was 5 of us and 2 of them )

We thought that was it, thought nothing of it...had a few more drinks then decided to go for a walk down the beach....we walk out and the little turd was there with his boys...I sh*t you not, at least 30 of them waiting outside. I'm not one to back down from defending myself but I've never felt this type of fear before, having 30 + blokes charging your way when you've only got 5 mates on your side was pretty terrifying because I new what was coming.

I remember looking back and seeing an empty street that I could've made a break for but I decided to stay, as did my mates. Didn't end well for us obviously. I was fortunate enough not to get beaten as bad and end up in hospital like two of my mates did. One lost eyesight in one of his eye from one of the gutless bastards bottling him. 30 onto 5 and they still use a bottle, cowards

I'll never forget what that little sh*t that started it looks like. If I ever see him again.....

pretty much... he bumped into my mate and did the whole " what, you wanna go " My mate didn't want to fight him, obviously he said no but the little sh*t just kept provoking him so my mates gone, yeah alright fk it lets go you cheeky sh*t. Soon as my mate said that he ran off to his buddies and waited for us outside

if he new what was outside he wouldn't of arced up to him.
