School

I don't start till March 3rd..... maybe that's because I'm at uni too, but I just thought I'd point it out... ;)

I remember school. I want to go back to school. I really should have listened when all the adults around me told me they'd be the best days of my life.

Okay, apart from hating all my friends (well, the majority of them anyway), and missing class most of the time.... it was great! I went for the sports, and got sports champion for my year level, 3 years running.... Ended up with full colours in Netball, Volleyball and Athletics. And half colours in Badmiton, Tennis, Football, Squash, and something else. So not a total waste of education time!

Oh, and totally hated the little punks underneath us. Bunch of arrogant little twerps. They used to pick fights with us, so they'd be accepted into the "tough" group. Dumb-ass'!

I only got over 80% attendance in English (fav) and Maths. Got 64% in accounting, 58% in info tech p&m, and 46% in Info Tech Systems. I don't even know what my attendance to home-base was, but it couldn't have been much. I used to rock up for just the last period of the day.

Yep, I loved school. Now I work    . Should have gone to Uni! Lazy days! :p

well today was my first day back!! :( wasnt all that diff... apart from having a few new teachers.

wasnt too bad... but i feel like i need another holiday!

mines actually ok this year! except a whole heap of double periods, which really **** me and the lunchtime and recess times have changed and theyre stupid.

last year it was crap, i wanted to do italian and yr 10 didn't run so i had to do it at yr 11, on mondays i had 5 periods in a row, no lunch and the last double was maths!

Haha, all people in the years below are immature ****s ;) For me, that's the entire school :D

My first week hasn't been so bad, I already mentioned I have double free Friday avo so that should be great :) And Wednesday morning too. And what helps me like Mondays is that I don't have Maths. :D And yeah, Saint4Life, a lot of people tell me I've chosen the hard ones, but I didn't really think it was that hard a selection...but that's just my opinion. Still, I'm very much a Maths/Science person, I've always liked them and been good at them, so maybe that's why I don't see it as being so bad :p

Im doing 5: English, Further Maths, Business, IPM and PE.

Pretty easy subjects, but Im a total dud at all the sciences so their was no point doing them.

My schools weird, we have "0" periods which are 8 o'clock classes which are impossible to stay awake in. Though the advantage of this is we get every second Friday off (meant to be a study day but turns into a drinking day :D), and also at least one day with no afternoon classes, which for me is Tuesdays.

Does your school provide facilities for senior students use during their free periods?

I was amazed at the ones at my son's new school. They have a 'house', literally. It is an old heritage protected homestead that was the original school and has kitchen, sleeping (maybe they need naps during the day  ), studying, research, and social activity facilities. It's also located near the junior school (yrs 5 - 7) and the seniors have the option of using their frees to go and help out in the primary school if they wish as well.

There was nothing around like that when I was a senior/yr 12!

Not anymore, the huge area under the library used to be for year 12 students, but since last year it has been converted into classrooms and offices, only really have the library now. But that doesn't really affect me as I leave when i have free's last and will show up late when I have them first (don't have any free's between classes which is good).

Got back to school yesterday. A pretty decent timetable and some good teachers.

Tuesday's are great as us year 11's/12's get to go home at lunch (12:45) and tomorrow we can go home 30 minutes before the end of school. Year 11's don't get free periods (bar early closing Tue/Wed) but we will next year.

It's all not too bad really, but it's going to get tougher in the next few weeks.

And I hate orals! It kills me to get up in front of the class and do an oral, but this semester I have to do 3.

Hehe, going home/down the street at lunch time is a privelege reserved only for Year 12 at our school, although younger ones can get passes to go home if they live in town and go home regularly. How can Year 11s not get free periods? Do you just have more/longer classes?

And as for orals, I love getting up and speaking! I love being heard, and am a good speaker, so it suits me perfectly. :)

I loved my school blazer when I was at school. Now I look at all the kids wearing it and laugh. How embarrassing.

It probably needed a dash of magenta in it to give it that touch of class.

I'm not too sure really. I think we have more classes than year 12's, and year 12's don't have to do the 6 subjects so that would give them a few free periods.

Oh, fair enough. In Year 11 here we have 7 blocks, and as most do 6 subjects that leaves one block of frees (five) per person plus the VCE meeting once a week which is usually used as a free. In Year 12 you do 5 subjects, so you normally have 2 blocks of frees (ten), minus each science subject.

I chose my electives for the first time (im in year 9) and I picked

SEMESTER 1:

Graphics - I LOVE graphics.. that is the best subject that you work in ;)
Forensic Science - CSI every lesson - Free period :)
Control Tech - NEVER PICK IT AT MY SCHOOL!!! Its so bad and I dont have any of my friends in that class... =(

SEMESTER 2:

American Studies - Mistake I can tell
IT - OMG YAYAYAYAYAYAYAY!!!
Travel and Tourism - Fantastic Im really good at geography so im happy =)

Thats it!!

At my school every year level has double lessons only. Are many other schools like this? I think it's better as you only have max. 3 classes a day so you're not breaking your back with textbooks and everything.

I have a free Tues arvo's and Thurs mornings, but the thing is we have to stay in the year 11 study room and sign out to go to the library or pods or whatever. So you can't really go or stay at home!

I'm quite happy with my lessons still! I seem to be getting less homework than everyone else! :D

My school has changed over the last few years to 4 75minute periods a day, which isn't bad. I go home early every day except for Mondays (when I arrive late) so my timetable is pretty good.

My school has 6 periods a day, we used to have 4 periods and that felt so draining.

I got my locker yesterday, and it's an a very convenient block which is great.

I can't wait to do phys ed. We had to choose which sports we wanted to do for the year and I chose:

Pot black ($35)
Volleyball
Tennis
Hockey
Netball (urgh)
Footy (YES!)
Badminton

I am going to be studying Certificate iv in Information Technology(Hardware, Operating Systems and Applications) I got a place just on Monday 3rd Feb. I am looking forward to studying again. It is at University of Ballarat SMB campus in Lydiard street

Graphics? I hated Art and Graphics with an absolute passion. I was so glad when I finished my last one ever. But forensic science - Wow! I'd love to do that! I wish they'd offered it at my school! Ohh, I am so jealous. ;)
