He almost single-handedly took apart the brisbane defence- something that even the greatest champion forwards have tried to do and failed!! You can't judge a player on one game alone, but in that game he showed, at least, that the talent was there to be a handy forward. I can't imagine why anyone would want to deny him the chance to become a great forward prospect.
Also, if it ain't broken, don't fix it!! Our best and fairest this yr was playing CHB and I just don't see the need for any changes to be made to a position which we already cover fairly well. We don't have a true full forward and with the leap on Schulzy, surely he'd give it a fair crack. Anyway that just my opinion.
Problem was Jay struggled in most games he played when Richo was in the team. IMO this is because he as yet doesn't read the play very well. A move to CHB will teach him very quickly how to read the play and then I see him being moved down forward, possibly when Richo retires. Our forward line is going to have RIcho as well as a resting ruckman, doesn't leave a lot of room for Jay and I think he would go missing a lot. The move to CHB is to help expedite his football education and develop him into a very damaging forward.
Joel was extremely good at CHB for us in 2004, but we clearly need some height down back as well, Bowden, Kellaway, Graham and Gaspar are all too short to play on someone like Ottens in the forward line.
