After watching that game the one person in our side that needs to man up is Scotland he has no accountability what so ever, in the first quarter, which by the way is where we lost the game not in the dying minutes, Scotlands direct opponent was Buchanan who set up 3 of Sydney's four first quarter goals because Scotland was nowhere to be seen so Buchanan had time and space to hit a target inside 50 lace out, it is just not good enough from a senior player to let his man run loose and set up goals at will.

After that Bentick went on to Buchanan and negated most of his influence with some tight one on one contests that didn't give Buchanan the time or space to place his kicks into the forwards arms, a great example of how to play accountable footy from a young man that should be learning lessons from senior players like Scotland not teaching them how to play accountable footy. Not good enough Heath Scotland and it is far from the first time either.

As I said on a thread last week about the Fremantle game, he would have to frustrate me more than any other Carlton player. The guy has that much skill it is just stupid, but his application and willingness to do the team things just let himself down.

Kouta, Scotland and Stevens are all pretty unaccountable and always have been. Considering how unaccountable Camporeale is you kind of understand why we got the wooden spoon in a year where Sydney won the flag with that quartet ruling the midfield. Thankfully now we've got players like Bentick, Simpson, Carrazzo, Murphy and Houlihan (yeah I know ) rotating through the midfield playing pretty accountable football.

Have to agree with this post. I feel accountability has been a big problem at the Carlton footy club and the 3 mentioned probably in reverse order are much of the reason.

All 3 are highly gifted but lack consistent passion for a variety of reasons. Campo was by far the least passionate last season and it is great that he is gone. I feel that Stevens is improving a little but it is a long season and the jury can decide at seasons end. Like Campo he can become a victim at times rather than just keep his mind on the job. Kouta is the best of the 3 but at times seems to lose faith in himself and hold back from chasing and jumping.

Scotland is a real mystery. I think I have seen him play about 3 or 4 near perfect games in his time at the club. Games as good as any of the superstars. In these games he has been fully accountable. How is it that a guy so gifted can be so ordinary at other times?

I really feel that if Nick, Heath and Kouta could bottle the formula for their best and produce consistently that Carlton could really rise. There is an undoubted difference in the attitude and consistency of these 3 as compared to guys like Voss, Buckley and S.Black.

Our guys have just as much ability. What is it that makes the difference? It has to be mental? Can mental toughness be learnt?

Drop him. Sounds harsh but if he has been told to be accountable, and is not, then he needs to be taken down a peg and reminded of his team obligations.
