With Scott being delisted by the Power, should we draft him with a later pick. IMO, we should as he is a ready made player & would give us that extra tall defender (who can also play on smalls) we need. Also, he can play forward too. Thoughts?
 
Yeah, I think we should. I thought he'd played pretty well for Port Power, so was surprised when he was delisted.

Is he Nathan Bassett's brother?

Most definately, maybe even with our first pick if their is not much left by the time we have a pick, that is if he's still available.

Scott is a good player who deserves another shot at AFL footy.

I understand why he was dropped by Port, but I'm still sorry to see him go.

I wish him success wherever he ends up

I'm with you on this one!! Is Scott Bassett any better than Evan Hewitt and he got the flick from us?? The Powder need tall backmen yet they have flicked Bassett as well. If we do think about drafting Basset I would gamble until our last pick.

True, I think we need another young ruckman, which should be our 1st priority (hence I said later pick for Bassett).

Been thinking about it a bit more and getting colder on Bassett all the time. 24 years of age, on Port's list for 6 years and only played 15 games, when they have been screaming their guts out for a tall backman. Better to develop Rutten or Matt Smith as a tall in defence.

I think we need to draft a ruckman, tall forward and on-baller in that order, and save the 4th pick for the pre-season draft where traditionally we have done pretty well.
 
I think we should definitely pursue Bassett, he will be a good addition to our side and if nothing else, will add serious competition for first team places.

If available, do you think we should also grab Bahram on the Rookie list. He is young, tall forward who could learn a lot from Carey but only if we could put him in an SANFL side who would give him a chance. Seventy-odd goals for Centrals reserves in your first season of footy is a great return and I think it wouldn't be a bad idea considering he is already in Adelaide.

Heard Choco on 5AA talking about their delistings and apparently the Barham family was totally p*ssed off that the lad couldn't get a league game with Centrals. and unless put onto the Powder's list would be going home. The Powder weren't prepared to do this without seeing him at SNFL A Grade level.

So much for their so-called stars too!! Choco said there would have been more delistings except that some of them were on contract, naming Koulouriotis as one that would have been delisted. Also they are under salary cap pressures and are going in short on their list - probably one but he didn't confirm that.

The Power aren't alone in this respect - I can think of 3 Crows players who can consider themselves very lucky they were still under contract! :mad:
 
A ruckman or two should be our first priorities. Ife he's around later on (OK much later on!) then..maybe. Did he kock back being traded to us two seasons ago?

Does he have the height and strength we need in a key backman? We already have Nathan Basset and Torney. I'd rather give Rutten a go.

That & he is still a contracted player, but really if their is one player who deserves to go it's Marsh, maybe next year he might deliver some of that promise he has in his body but i doubt it,

I totally agree with you. I don't think he will ever deliver either because he doesn't want to enough - he is almost as frustrating as David Gallagher was ..... bugger ...... why did I type that - I feel ill just seeing that name!!

I was at the MCG in 01 when we played the blues in the elim final, in the 2nd 1/4 Marsh dropped a sitter when well in the clear & instead of picking the ball up he just looked around to see if was under the pump well by then he bloody was & Carlton raced down & kicked a goal, game over,

As for David Gallagher well i have a bit of a confession to make,i used to stick up for him against all & sundry on the old Crows forum but since then i have seen the light,:)

A pair of Bassett Hounds?

Yep I reckon it would be great to have both Bassett Hounds in our defence mixture. Is Scott as nutty as Nathan? Will he dye his hair purple as Nathan did in 2001? Does he kick goal posts in frustration? Does he go silly when he kicks goals? If he is anything like Nathan then I say yep lets go for him.

We still need a ruckman though - Marsh is crap - I could ruck better - hell I would only have to go half pace at the ball to be better than Marshy!:D
