Still need him in the Midfield as when put in there in Last Qtr helped us win the Game

Development year Dave so more important Lipinski (for example) gets as much midfield exposure as possible. Can always turn to Pendles when needed.

I think it’s as much about opening up midfield opportunity for others. Pendles on a wing pushes Josh Daicos to HF. Pendles in the square takes rotations now going to JDG and Lipinski.

Short term pain, long term gain.
I'd agree if you were talking about giving stoppage time to Nick Daicos and not Lipinski. Personally, I think Lipinski will be a long term player for us, but think he's only a stop gap in terms of stoppage.

Agreed insofar as Lipper is being played in a style that doesn't suit his skillset. He's much more a first clear possession link man than a contested ball man.

Yeah, I think Lippa will be best suited to the periphery long-term. Give him time and space to utilise his best weapon - kicking.

If Nick is up to it physically I would love to get him some run in the middle. Obviously wary that after 2 interrupted years he might not be able to be at many stoppages, but I'd love it. Pair him with Maynard (who recently said he expects some run in the middle) to give us defensive cover.

Happy for you to think that but for mine he’s a young recruit with just north of 50 games to his name. They’ll want to give him the opportunity to stake his claim and demonstrate what sort of contribution best suit his skill set. Was tagged as an inside mid when he arrived but I see him more as 2nd possession clearance type than the guy getting 1st possession, but it’s still a work in progress.

Fair call - just think Daicos is a shoe in to do that for us for big minutes for a long time and anyone else we are looking at to support him needs a combination of pace and/or evasive tricks. Just don't think he has the skillset.

Still our best most consistent player. No signs of slowing down. Hope I don't have to worry about Pendles retiring for another 6 years.

I dread the day he retires tbh, have no one really to replace him especially in leadership skills. Will be interesting to see how much longer we have him for, hopefully another couple of years but will be lucky to have him for another year.

Looking at what guys like Mundy and Burgoyne have done, I think Pendlebury can play a few more seasons

He was fantastic yesterday. The way he manages to win the pill and use it, even with his lack of pace he never panics and always manages to use the pill constructively. I too dread the day Pendles hangs up his boots. What a player he has been.

Our midfield needs to stop relying on him, he’s better served in defence.

garbage, when the game gets tight what does the coach do, put Pendlebury in the midfield. If you need him to save or win the game in the last qtr, what’s wrong with doing it in the first 3 qtrs

It doesn’t give our midfield a chance to prepare for life Pendles.

I would like to rebuild the midfield without him because he will leave at some stage but think he is better in there. He is a bit soft in defence. Has anyone else noticed how he cannot stick some tackles which lead to goals? I do not think his instincts are defence either and he is not strong overhead.

He's a little less than he was last year and its probably the first time that I've noticed it. He's like cochin in that regard. Yesterday we had the right balance of younger players to keep the new methods intact. Any more newbies and we would turn into a bunch of kids kicking the ball. We still need to keep younger guys in the midfield to feed the transition. To me, Pendles in the middle means less experience for younger guys, but if that experience goes to the browns then it's wasted anyway.

Pendles and Nick Daicos were always slated to have midfield rotations going into the season. I’m not sure it’s when “the game gets tight” as games are more often than not “tight” and can swing quickly on momentum shifts.

Mundy is a model for Pendles. No reason why Pendles can't be an effective player for another three years. He looks after his body better than anyone and was never quick to begin with and that's what elite players tend to lose long before their skills and reaction time. Brent Harvey and KB were rare exceptions.

As much as I love the bloke I think we'd be crazy to sign him for another 3 years. The last couple of games have showed how much he has slowed down and not as effective as what he used to be. I feel the game is going past him a bit. By all means retain for another year for leadership but I have doubts to sign him on for another 3

He's been our most effective user from the backline when he's been there and is still a regular, crucial element of our midfield. Most have him in the top 5 or thereabouts in the B&F for the millionth time. Disagree with your post.
