I just want to acknowledge the sacrifice Pendles made to give up the captaincy for the development of the team and club. He would have known he would be a chance to be the premiership captain this year. The ego of others would have gone one more year. But not Pendles.

The seemless transition to Darcy is testament to his Legend status at the Pies.

It’s absolutely crazy to me that he could win 2 premierships, neither of them as captain despite being our record holder of games captained.

Crazy indeed. Think he and Sidey would share the longest gap between first and second flags

McRae said he had broken 3 PB's in the last few weeks.

He can keep playing for another couple of years then assistant coach.

2 more seasons at full health with Grand Final runs would get him to just about equal with Boomer Harvey for the all time record. I don't know that it's necessarily going to happen for Pendles, but I can see 420-425 if he plays a couple more years.

If he somehow has 3 left in him, then the record is his

When so many others were flagging, Pendles found something more to take us to victory.

A competitive beast.

I'm happy to have seen him and Steele taste the ultimate once more.

Pendlebury now has to removed from an unwelcome list.

Most games after winning a premiership. (and not win another one)

He was second on the all time list until yesterday, behind only Boomer Harvey.

His tally was 280 games. Game 102 was a premiership, game 383 was a premiership.

Steele Sidebottom was in fourth place with 272 games, just behind Barry Breen.

I just want to point out that he was our best player in the final quarter of every final. Just insane at his age. Truly the greatest to ever put on a Collingwood jumper

I was just saying in the Didaka thread - it was 29 degrees, it was the last quarter of the longest season ever and he’s pushing 36 years old - and he was the best player on ground in that quarter.

He will go down in history as our greatest player ever.

It’s funny but men if more than capable at running capacity at a young age actually go quite well into the 30’s provided they keep their conditioning up. Stamina gets better over time

No surprises that Sidey and Pendles kept on all game. Sidey has always been an elite runner especially over mid distance imo.
