Okay this is getting beyond a joke. What we are doing to the reputation of Thommo, a club legend , is a bloody disgrace. The guy is clearly suffering from injury, stop bloody playing him.

It wouldn't surprise me if the clubs thinking was that when Sloane and Danger were hurt they didn't want to rest another senior midfielder. Hopefully they'll let him freshen up now, because I thought his first quarter was really good. Used it well and tackled hard, hopefully it means he isn't completely past it. Obviously he badly needs a rest though.

His 1st qtr was good, that's okay if we don't play the other 3 quarters. We've subbed him twice in a month

I won't criticise Thommo, but the coaching staff need to explain why we keep sending him out there every week, when he is clearly not up to it.

Thommo would play on one leg if he needed to - its up to the coaching staff to make the decision to stop that.

Do you think it is his direction to the younger guys, even danger and sloane, that is keeping him in? I assume those two know what theyre doing but maybe thommo helps out a lot more tactically than we see?
cant help much from the bench

I don't think Thommo adds much in the brains department. He was very strong in close for a quarter but his first kick was straight to to the opposition in the centre.

He has carried our midfield for years and it's unfair to start bagging him now but, clearly, he shouldn't be playing.

I'm am getting quite sick of the dumb free kicks he gives away. I mean he just sits on the ball like some wondrous moron.

The philosophy is trying to win regardless of ladder position, and obviously that includes selection. Would Kerridge play better than an injured Thompson? probably. I don't know what he adds in on-field leadership but it would better than a 10 game player. I'm not justifying his selection but maybe it was a 50/50 in that regard before that game (obviously it's not in hindsight). I'm also not justifying the selection to win policy, particularly when we have young players in SANFL form. However maybe it's good to keep winning and keep that belief for next year.

I've run out of excuses, he really just needs to sit the rest of the season out. Reading between the lines of what Sando said in the PC about him, I reckon that will be his last game of the season.

His first qtr and a half was fine but ran outta gas and/or the jab wore off. Sando has to make a call. Weve shown we don't need him so dont play him

We don't make that sub, we lose.

We make the sub against Geelong, come from behind with run and accountability from the midfield and win.

We get over ran last week with Scott Thompson on Travus Boak and he gets 3 clearances in the last 3 minute. Port win.

We make the sub today against North, we win.

Time for Scott Thompson to be rested and come back next preseason free and injury free. Playing him now is pointless.

What did he say?

Hes the braun

I think Thommo definitely needs a rest and a freshen up. His skills are shocking at the moment due to his injury and simply turned the ball over too often in dangerous positions. I can see why the selectors gave him this match but Sando surely has to end his season now.
