Is it time to bite the bullett and send him back to West Adelaide to get some form and confidence. He has been deplorable in the last couple of weeks and overall his season has been very disappointing for a player so talented. Last time we played Melbourne he kicked a career high of 8 goals. Do we keep him for another week and hope he can do it against demons or do we bite the bullett and drop him.

If you want him dropped who would you bring back in to replace him??????

Mmm, been a bit up and down for Welsh.

He was good against Sydney, but I think his performance was overlooked with so many others playing well. He's had a couple of bad ones since, I'd probably give him one more because we know how good he can be. He plays that medium forward role better than anyone.

If we were to drop Welsh, the most obvious option to replace him is Jericho. Either that or send Burton up forward and bring in another midfielder.

I do think Welsh is one of the best medium forwards going around when on song. As a 3rd tall you couldn't ask for anything more.

However, part of the reason he is out of form is because he is playing as a FF. He is not a KPP but he is being asked to play as one and he is fighting out of his weight and height division week in week out. Maybe if we bring in Stevo or Watts in to play KP it would free Welsh to play his more natural position as a forward pocket.

If the likes of Watts, M.Stevens, etc play good games on Sunday, I would consider giving him some time in the SANFL to regain the confidence that he has noticeably lost.

However, my preferred option would be to start him on the bench. He needs to start performing and he needs to perform very soon. A sit on the pine would give him the indication that his spot is not neccersarily reserved.

However I do agree with Stiffy that he is being used incorrectly. He's a leading FP, not a stationary FF who takes pack marks. He's only 188-89-90cm tall and does not deserve to be played like he has been. Time for a change by NC IMO.

Keep him this week, but start him on the bench. If he doesn't perform, Westies should welcome him with open arms for a week or two.

I thought he was very ordinary today and not much better last week. He either lacked confidence going for the ball or was woried about Archers footsteps today. I would at least put him on notice - and SANFL is definitely an option - worked once before.

He got benched early and spent a lot of time on the pine. When he came back on he wasn't much better. I don't think that did the trick. I just want Welshy to hit form and if that means dropping him for a week or 2 then so be it.

I agree with you 100% Stifler, but I'd still like to see more of an effort from the 1999 Premiership Player. At times he looks resigned to being beaten without giving it his all. Sure his confidence would be well down at the minute, but opportunities will present themselves if he continues to bust a gut - look at Skippy for proof of this.

welsh didnt suite todays type of game, it wasnt exactly a great day for a leading forward. Saying that on his day he our best forward, but he has to play FF and be isolated with room infront of him to play well. I cant see us winning a premiership with him as a FF. I cannot remember a game(s) recently where he has thrived as the third forward, he might be good for 5mins, but then just fades right out of the game. I would trade him if we could get some value.

Welsh out Jericho in

West and the Crows would end up with roughly the same result. I agree Welsh was in shocking form and has been for the last couple of weeks but today he toned down the faking and wasn't the best day for leading forwards especially since when he was on he had to contend with Glenn Archer. Give him one more week I say!

He isnt at his best atm, but I dont know if dropping him is the best thing either, Welsh is a 'confidence' player if he starts the game off well he usually goes on with it, I think depending on Stevo's form bring Stevo back and play Welsh more as a crumber and put Burton at FF and Stevo at CHF, have Welsh I guess as a floating forward who pushs up into the middle of the ground.

I would give him another game. If he doesn't perform, bring in Watts or meeson and bench Welshy.

Imagine how good we could be if we had a forward. :(

Welsh is a FF. He doesn't haev to be a 3rd forward. His best performances are when the 50 is cleared out and he can lead 1-on-1. He is not a small guy, he is quite solidly built and has huge arms. Bradshaw is about the same height and build and is a good FF. Welsh has the potential but often not the desire to work hard to get it.

Sorry, but can't agree that Welsh is a FF.

He just makes do at times as a makeshift one, but IMO he's more of a FP opportunist or HF flanker type.

We're sending a boy on a man's job because we don't have a tall playing well enough to put at the goalfront. I think his form has suffered as a result.

We need either of Stevo or Watts to step up and take the pressure off of Welsh to get true value from him again.
