Cant believe I am on the Crows board, I feel ill :D

Anyway... have any of you guys ventured down to Crows training and seen Thommo in action?

Mark my words, this boy can play

yes he is a traitor and he stinks, but I have to say you picked up a very good, potentially great player

I have gone to 2 sessions. In one session he did the reflex handball stuff with other injured players and on monday he wasn't even there.

I think he is injured. I don't think any of the training reports done by posters reported Thommo on the track.

Pity

he was injured his whole career at Melbourne

then this year he got the body right, dominated the first 10 or so weeks, then.. bam... broken foot, gone for the year

This would have to be pretty close to the most disappointing thing this PS. I was hoping for an imediate impact from ST. :(

He is probably just being managed appropriately. Still four weeks to the Wizard Cup.

I think if a player isnt training at full speed 4 weeks out, its a concern. They probably are just managing him through, but the concern is they need too. He's hardly been sighted on the track all PS after several injury riddled season at Melbourne. It has to be a bit of a worry, not just for this season but his career and our investment in him. I want to see him on the track and performing, he is critical for us this year IMO, Stenglien has left a big hole to fill.

Given how late in the pre-season it is and his progression so far, I don't Thommo will play in the Wizard Cup.

I reckon the AFC will give him more time, maybe on regional match, before settling him into the big stuff.

He may be injured, I'm not sure. But I do know that at least a few of the training sessions he's missed have been due to the Troy Broadbridge situation. He has travelled to Melbourne on two seperate occassions, the first when the news of his death was sadly confirmed and the second for the funeral.

Waste of pick 12 i think, it was always known about the numerous injury problems he’s had, especially the unusual types of injuries too. A player can only have so many injuries b4 it starts to take a permanent toll on his ability, lets hope he gets it right soon…………

You really are a positive individual aren't you.

Shouldn't you be on some pointless US TV reality progam chasing girls in the Outback as I hear the snakes are deadly & venimous.

I dont know about pointless, i think you'll find its must watch TV

A mate of mine who is as fanatical about Melbourne as I am about Adelaide is still dirty on Thompson going to us. Despite the injury worries my mate is CONVINCED he would have won Melbourne's B&F this year (if not won at least second). Okay it's a big call - but I didn't make it, although it did whet my appetite to see Thompson in the tri-colours.

Rumour round the traps at Port b4 the trade period was that Thompson had a chronic knee problem which Melbourne were trying to keep quiet. Which is why Port wouldn't jump into bed in a 3 way deal with Melbourne and Freo. It was only a rumour so who knows, but given that and his injury history I would be concerned if we'd recruited him and he wasn't at training.

hehehhehehehehehehehehehe

Did Mark Williams decide not to get into bed with Melbourne before of after his 11 hour bid to try and snatch him on the last day of trade week?

heheheheheh, classic.

You are a funny lot.

The fact that Chocko made a last minute bid in trying to convince Thommo to change his mind and join the power instead of the crows proves that what you are saying its only a rumour and doesn't have any truth to it.

Not one to put in your box of "specials" FF :D

C'mon guys (bit of Lleyton there for ya) the topic was around Scott Thompson not being at training and I thought I'd toss up the rumour I'd heard - I alluded to it around trade time as well as a reason Port might not be interested in him. Fair enough if you want to smack it over the long on fence (oops mixing sport metaphors), it might be bollocks like most rumours.

But then i've never really bought the one about Chocco desperately trying to woo Thompson at the last minute either. Even late in trading when it looked for a while the deal might collapse, the reports from Melbourne were that the Dees were negotiating for a later draft pick not earlier to get Moloney.

Did make me wonder about fitness tests for players tho. It's a pretty big deal in the round ball code - how many transfer are 'subject to a medical/fitness test'. We don't seem to do it here, just go on the leap of faith. We've done the same with Shattock's history.

John Reid just said on 5AA that Scott had a minor stress fracture in the shin. Could have been training last week or so but decided to be careful with him. Also said club very happy with him and have great expectations for him this year

Cannot see him saying anything else but hopefully he turns out to be right.

i think that Scotty Thompson will have a dynamite future with the crows, watching replays of matches from last year only made me more convinced.

as melbourne supporter, i can only express disappointment from his decision as the club spent a lot of time and even putting him on the 2004 membership documents and other stuff only showed how much faith was put into him to be the future of the club. not as bad as Colbert leaving the cats, but still a bad taste.

But what are you gonna do?

i personally won't boo him at games as i am an interstater who does know the sting of being away from family. However, i can't promise the Dee's Fans (trying) to give some curry to Thommo.

Fantastic to hear.

Hopefully he'll be training in the very near future once his shin heals.

I think he'll be a very good player, though I expect his 2006 to be better than 2005 due to his lack of pre-season thus far. However I still have very high hopes for him in 2005.

His tackling, goal-scoring ability and hardness at the ball will be a pleasure to watch. :)
