Nice to see the board respond to the virtual uprising by the masses and get the hint. We need Essendon people putting this club back on the right track.

Clever move in fact, as getting Lucas involved in the search for a new coach, they hit a few issues on the head:

1) To those who believed that Essendon was becoming very un-Essendon like, getting Scotty involved gives it a distinctively Bomber feel.

2) Us versus Them. Them won Knighta. Knights really alienated a lot of people by painting what was perceived as an "us v them" mentality, when the other side was Lloyd, Lucas, Hird, Sheedy. He could never win that popularity contest, and alot of people (myself included) felt jaded by it.

3) The voice of dissent (represented in Lucas) chooses the next coach. That should placate the masses.

Agree,its good that Scott is there to choose coach BUT the EFC must have a coach in place before the Grand Final.In Trade Week(which goes for 7 days straight this year) we MUST have our new Coach in place for that!!

I don't think a decision will be made that quick, but i hope that its taken into consideration.

I have a feeling this trade week we might be involved heavily.

Think its a very good idea to have a very big and recent essendon player back at the club to help decide its future coach
Has a very good football mind and knows the modern game very well.
Mabye we could get Lloyd and Scotty down at train a few times to offer some goal kicking work plus some tatics as they have a very good understanding of the current game. Would get a good essendon culture going with some past greats, also we should try get hirdy down to the club, mabye not as a full-time assistant but start grooming him a little without having an actual club position

I think we have to be VERY careful NOT to rush this decision - as we did last time - rushed into the decision because we thought we would miss out.

Still agree not to rush it but surely they can decide on a new coach within 2-3 weeks.The latest should be the Wednesday after the grand final so he could look over the list before the following Monday!
