My Xbox has managed to scratch my mates version of AFL 2004 - now it gets stuck loading up - is it possible to get this repaired or do i have to buy him a new copy ?

If your X-Box is scratching them badly enough not to load, then you need to seriously get your X-Box looked at.
As for the game, you can try one of the CD/DVD scratch repair kits you can get or if you feel like being a complete bastard you can always try a switcheroo with a rented copy.
