It's been a while since a new thread was started about him so I thought I'd make a new one.

But on a serious note it seems the sun has listed him as our x factor. I don't think it's too far from the mark. He offers us something Noone else in the side can and if he can get on the park he will find his feet at afl level and be a better lead up forward than Anthony.

Midfield depth and versatility? Check. Defensive options? Check. A hard-leading forward who can open up the forward line and nail long goal in finals? Not so sure. Sean Rusling has shown himself to be a player that could fill that role for the Pies, but a run of three shoulder operations has denied him the chance to do it on the big stage.

I agree totally with what the HUN wrote. At full fitness he adds a completely new dimension to our forward line.

But are we expecting too much of him? Gotta remember he has only played 17 games and has spent the better part of 2 years off the park.

Surely his bad luck is over and he can string some games together and deliver on the potential we all know he has.

Pretty spot on article.

Sure we have an abundance of X-factor types in Davis, Didak, Thomas, Medders etc. however, Rus would be the icing on the cake.

He will be playing in the forward line and is only being thrown around a little in order to get miles into his legs with only one more practice match to go via the VFL before round 1.

Now I doubt he will be selected for round 1 but the coaching staff no doubt want to get him to an available match fitness base as quick as possible IMO.

If only he was able to play as many games as there have been threads dedicated to him on bigfooty.

Pleased he got through OK. Obviously the club is taking a kid glove approach with him and fair enough - TBH I'm not fussed he's been played down back, the important thing is that everytime he plays and gets through his confidence in his body will build.

Hopefully it is just to get some game time into his legs and nothing else.

Our backline is fine, and he is a forward.

I've talked to someone at the club and they said this is exactly the reason. He needs a lot more match fitness and a half back flank runs far more then a full forward position. They don't want to risk him on the ball in the thick of all the other bodies, and so they chucked him on a back flank.

Probably a good move in my opinion. Get fitness into him, and give him spurts in the forward line to let him get used to it. Pretty smart if you ask me!
