With that award-winning friendly personality, your inclusion via majority vote is appearing even more surprising!
Always amuses me just a little bit that two of my average-low seasons have seen me score All Sweet FA Honours but the season I averaged 111 posts and had a stellar season on the field, I wasn’t even a part of the conversation ;).

Suppose it comes back to the fact that it really is all about who is in the Committee.

Additionally, meh. Time to say goodbye to this season and onto the next!

So Mooch, who had one of the best seasons at Full Forward in living memory and won the Fred Medal by a significant margin and PhenomenalV1 who was equal second in the same award and had an excellent finals series don't make the side due to arbitrary posting limits, even though one of those posters was inside the top 15 posters in the competition, higher than any other forward?

Stick a fork in this shit process and start again.

Wait.

Mooch didn't get the selection?

League is cooked.

Maybe, just maybe there is not quite the connection between what the Sim puts out and what is contributed during the game thread / SFA board.

All SFA have a heavy weighting on the SIM awarded Goals vs what other elements?

The selection committee could release a

Didn't even get nominated.

How many noms does each team get? I thought it was 5. Bono and Orange crush both had good enough seasons for at least a token nomination surely.
Somewhat surprisingly neither made the posting minimum.

The Furies only had two posters average 15+ posts per match thread. Shaun and James. No other player qualified for the All SFA team.

Just need to post 250 in the first match thread of the season then let it ride.

Facts.

We were investigated when the Diddy scandal dropped due to the amount of baby oil we ordered.

We were almost cleared until they discovered the bananas and duct tape.

Got off with a warning.

We also got a warning.

I mean, it looks like the process of nominating posters from each team was kind of your idea in the first place:

It was and it made things easier at a time where the competition wasn't as advanced from a statistics perspective as it is now. Since that time, the SFA has significantly progressed in terms of the collection and recording of statistics so the old nomination method could be stopped altogether.

The meticulous stat collection, thoroughness and better organisation of statistics across quite some time now makes things easier as players can be compared from a positional point of view quite easily and removes the need for nominations.

The sooner the All-SFA becomes Stats only, the better.

It should never have changed. This award jumped the shark the season we had four rucks make the side, around Season 19 or so. The balance has moved back towards normality somewhat in some respects, but far too much weighting is given to activity and it should only ever be a minor consideration. The fact that someone won the league goalkicking by nine goals across a shortened season yet wasn't even nominated because of predetermined limits is monumentally stupid.

Making decisions based on statistics is much easier because it is a quantitative measure and most people within this competition, being footy fans, know what constitutes a great game. This is much easier to identify from a ranking perspective.

Posting, on the other hand, is subjective in that there may be many opinions across a group of people if they were to be polled on one poster specifically. Adding a qualitative measure in the form of arbitrary weekly posting targets is stupid as this excludes people who don't have the ability to be on the site all day. Not everyone has the luxury of being able to do that and frankly, no-one should be expected to.

I'm not sure what this posting requirement is/was - Loonerty was nominated for All-SFA and averaged 0.07 posts per week so I mean, the limit must be pretty ****ing low if there even if is one.

It was 15 posts per week and was argued down from 20 I believe, however some clubs only used that as a guideline for their nominations.

No issues with anyone with low activity being nominated, but there is always going to be special-case type decisions where a poster who may have slightly inferior stats and is active will receive a spot in front of someone who has slightly better stats but is inactive. That's a rational and logical decision to make and there will be some occasions where case-by-case analysis is needed.

I think we can all agree to the feeling that the All SFA process is ****ing cooked as evidenced by the contents of this thread.

It's appalling and has been for a long time.

Wait.

Mooch didn't get the selection?

Mooch wasn't nominated due to a posting limit put in place and hence didn't make the side.

It’s a little too late to try and boost your posting numbers mate, save it for next season ;)
