Team is looking better then it has in a long while.

Good to see Dragga back and Dutchy. Especially I hope that Dragga has a really good game. Two knee recos is very unfortunate.

Go Tigers!

Not happy with any Tiger side containing Biddiscombe.........soft.
Unfortunately there is nobody else. Injuries and poor form killing us. Maybe next year we can have close to 40 players on our list.
Hopefully Biddiscombe finds some sort of form so that he can be traded for a very late token draft pick.

Will miss Hall. Doesn't leave much flexibility with our talls. If Kellaway or Holland, or any of our talls for that matter, have ordinary games we don't have much to shuffle.

Good luck to Dutchy and Dragga.

Hall sustained an injury of some sort during the week otherwise he would have been included.

Good to see dutchy and dragga back although the Gabba might be a baptisim of fire for them given the time both have been out .

Go Tigers.

The Brisbane side Voss named you'd think there would still have to be some doubt about him playing.

BRISBANE LIONS
B: Johnson, Michael, White
HB: Copeland, Leppitsch, Ashcroft
C: B.Scott, Voss, Lappin
HF: Power, Pike, Hart
F: McRae, Lynch, Bradshaw
FOLL: McDonald, Black, Akermanis
I/C: Charman, McGrath, Shattock, Weller
EMG: Gram, McLaren, Selwood
IN: Voss, McDonald, Bradshaw
OUT: Caracella (ankle), Brennan, McLaren

I heard a rumour that one of our top tier players linpmed off the training track one night this week but it wasn't reported in the press. I've heard further that it was Ottens and he may not be in this week. Let's hope it is just a rumour but if it's true I hope it's not a back related hamstring. We need that like a hole in the head at the minute.

yeah I've always found him hard to take...But in the essendon game he really stood up I thought. he actually hit targets and can let go some with ball bursters. As far as bagging a player goes...I'll do it...but I love being proved wrong (amen on Hilton/Pettifer/Fiora)

I concur that it would be great if he gets some form.
Hopefully he tags Voss out of the game.
Go Bidders...and Tigers !:)

The consensus seems to e that Voss will play but in bursts - i.eyou can be sure they will throw in the middle to try and blow us away early on in the game and in each quarter.

What do you think the matchups will be ?

Holland-Lynch almost certain to be one

Coughlan - Black

Johnson - Lappin

Campbell - Voss ????

Akermanis - Newman

Or will we try and tag their guns i.e throw Fleming/Rogers/Zantuck on one of them

We have a lot more options this week

If Holland gets Lynch at least he won't have to run much!

Holland would have to be one of the very few players capable of playing on Lynch. When Pagan made the comment "You need a Gorilla to play on the Gorillas" I am sure he had Lynch in mind.

Lynch kicks bagfulls of goals each week by being able to stand in the goalsquare and outwrestle his opponent. Not quite so easy against Holland who is probably an even bigger unit.

(Bigger unit!!!! ****, now I am sounding like Dermie!)

I don't think its worthwhile of tagging their guns there is too many of them that a couple of them will get away. We are best just going head-to-head with them and just instruct the more attacking midfielders e.g Johnson, Tivendale to be a bit more mindful of their opponents than if they were getting tagged.

I'd like to see Zantuck given a crack at Voss. Looks like a better matchup strengthwise than Rogers or Fleming. Mightn't be able to spare him from the backline though if Bradshaw, Pike, Lynch, and White end up forward all at once.

Regarding Bidders, I agree about his game against Essendon however looks can be deceiving. The one asset he has is being a beautiful long penetrating kick. What he lacks is the desperate attitude required of a backman. Newman, Zantuck, Kellaway, Gas and Chaff possess it. Biddiscombe doesn't. He is a weak link in our backline because the opposition run straight over/thru/past him with minimal resistance. Just picture the turnstile at your local supermarket as you walk in. This is the sort of resistance I'm talking about. If you were to put together a Biddiscombe highlights tape there wouldn't be too many matchwinning type tackles, team shepherds, smothers etc. however there would be plenty of footage of him in space receiving the ball and bombing it 60m into our forward line. We've got plenty of guys who can do this i.e. Bowden, Tivvers, Fiora, Chaff, Cameron, Johnson, Hall, Rogers. Biddiscombe brings nuthin to the team but his departure at years end will offer some salary cap relief.

I've been critical of Pettifer too and although he has been used a lot this year across half-forward he just can't seem to get into the game. It seems to be pretty difficult to establish ones self as a small forward these days, especially when rotating off the bench. Would prefer to see Pettifer given some time in the backline and given a job on someone. Hasn't hindered Newmans development! Try anything please. Just do something so that this kids talent isn't wasted.

Very disappointed in Hilton's form. He had to go but he seems to have been shunted all over the ground this year and wasn't really given very long in any position. Now he looks to be running around with zero confidence and no indication that he will turn it around. He has done well off half-back in the past however Chaff and Newman have stitched up the flanks. Can't see where he will fit back in. It's a worry when Biddiscombe has been picked ahead of you.

On a more positive note I put the boot into Bowden earlier in the season (wasn't the lone ranger there!) but I am happy to admit that he is proving me wrong. Haven't seen him work this hard for years. Good stuff. Going to have to be patient with Dragga and Dutchy. Will be holding my breath whenever either of them goes near the ball. Hope they both come thru unscathed.

I've got a feeling that we're going to pinch one of the next two games. Got moved by work to Brissi 2 months ago so I finally get to see a game live this week. Woohoo!

Go Tiges!!!!!!!!!

Agreed CJH, his size has been something we've really missed since his injury. As good as Gas and Kellaway have been we haven't had someone with the physical size to play on the Lynch, Rocca, Carey, Whitnall, Hall types.

holland is too slow even for lynch on the lead, so thats a worry, looks much better at chb, reads the ball exceptionally well and cuts off many a pass............

i would love to see spud throw coghs into the deep end against vossy...
newman should go with aker,
sugar head to head with black
and rest assured hart will go staright to cambo, tivers should go to lappin
and bowden will prob get taken by ashcroft
chaffey on power, both intelligent players should b a good contest
zantuck on bradshaw
A.Kellaway on pike
holland on lynch
rogers on mcRae (hope he DOESNT get one of the fab 4!!!!)

if voss starts up forward which he more likely will, zantuck must go staright to him, whicxh in turn leaves us without any1 for bradshaw, (note: i dont rate bidders as any1)

Would think Kellaway would be a better match-up for Bradshaw, as a smaller option could prob go with Pike - assuming he goes up forward.

Would love to see Cogs take it up to Voss - they are similar types of players, both hard at it.

We have the weapons to win this game, finally we have the ballwinners to get a decent share of possession - the existence of a steady stream of ball down to Richo, Staff and Otto will force the Lions defenders to be accountable and cut down their drive from the back - esp Leppitsch can get caught out zoning off.

Accuracy in front of goals will be crucial - we need to take the chances we get - Richo, time to put the kicking boots on this week !!

Might be more then just a rumour . You can also add Cambo and dragga to the list according to reports from fox footy.

it was otto, but he ran strongly today so hes in no doubt, cambo only trained lightly

wtf is going on with cambell, iv never seen a calf "strain" keep a player out for the best part of 8 weeks!!!

tigert I can tell you from experience that a calf strain is very difficult to shake and slow to recover from. I strained a calf muscle playing squash a couple of years ago and I wasn't right for 6 months until I started getting massages for it. Buggers of things!!
