McCarthy- played a shocker and has to be dropped
Kingsley- showed nothing and has to be dropped.

In
Koulouriotis
Wojcinski
Mackie
Ablett
Gardiner

Most people are going to say what about tall forwards, well to tell you the truth i would go in with a smaller forward line this week. What would you do and who would you drop.

P.S i wanted to drop Playfair but he has to ruck.

Out:

I dont know about dropping Kingsley as well he still kicked a couple and he didnt get many opportunties.

In:

Koulouriotis - is he doing okay now? Last time I heard not that I watch VFL much he was doing poorly, what is he doing now?

Ablett - I dont thnk will be fit and Wojcinski is in a similiar situtaion.

Mackie and Gardiner I have time for maybe Tenace, Callan or Lonergan

I would expect Moloney and Tenace to come in for you guys.

Mackie would have to be a strong chance to come in with Graham out for a week.

Looks like you have plenty of options coming into Round 2.

Good luck to yas;)

Definently Out: Graham (injured), Milburn (injured), Sanderson (injured)
Possibly Out: Harley (injured), McCarthy (dropped)

Likely In: Callan, Moloney, Gardiner
Possibly In: Lonergan, Mackie, Tenace

I wouldn't drop Kingsley. He's been the only one likely to kick a few goals. If the delivery into the forward line improves, he goes all right.

Seems that Tenace and Mackie are certain inclusions from the news tonight.

You can't drop Kingsley because of one bad game. IMO Kingsley had a very good pre-season in the Wiz Cup and was amongst our best performers during the campaign, especially the GF. McCarthy I agree he hasn't been great but considering our considerable lack of height this week, he might not be dropped...this week at least. Ablett and Wojcinski are still injured and are no where near full match fitness. Gardiner has been solid in the VFL and I'm sure he will be in the mix for a spot this week. Koula; hasn't been solid enough to warrant a spot in the 22. Give him more weeks. Callan should be an auto inclusion, as he is by far the best performer in the VFL at the moment.

I'd agree with GeeCat regarding Koula but I'd like to add that his last couple of games have shown marked recovery from the early hamstring problem and he's shown enough promise to warrant a chance sooner rather than later.

I'd rather later - give him a couple of full VFL non-trial games first.

I'd also agree with keeping Kingsley in the team, but Ablett I believe was recently publicly announced as having being diagnosed with OP...

I recall reading a report by a Cat's Claw observer that stated how Koula played one great game during the pre-season. So I guess it could be said he's possibly on the way back up.

And yes, the GFC has officially declared Ablett's battle with Osteitis Pubis...

He played in both internal trials, and then three VFL trials. He's improving with each one, and I believe he's playing at about the standard he was about this time last year. He has a bit to go to get to his best but he's tending towards it.

OUT: Graham, Milburn, Sanderson and McCarthy has to be dropped.

IN:Callen , Maloney,Mackie and Tenace. I don't know if the club will play 3 players with 1 game between them though.

Out: Graham Sanderson Milburn

In: Thurley Tenace Mackie

I dont like the idea of dropping McCarthy because being the biggest and strongest of our forwards, he automatically gets the oppositions biggest strongest defender, Leaving Kinglsey Haynes and maybe Playfair on the likes of Thronton Livingston cant think of many others. I guess what i'm saying is if we have plenty of height in the forward line there is going to be mismatches to our adavntage.

The inclusion of thurley may be a surprise and will probably not happen but i think with the many talls we have if these selctions do happen, we need a genuine crumber down there to feed off the talls..ablett and johnson are unav..so that leaves chappy ricco and thurley rotating through there with chappie and ricco having the ability to go into the midfield.

And I think tenace desreves a spot against one the weaker AFL midfields as he has the potential to tear them up.

Mackie also creates a mismatch up forward in the fact hes tall and quick but will be an easier match up for the carlton defence than McCarthy Playfair Kinglsey or even Haynes.

I think Hunt or Rooke are capable or filling sandos spot for the week..(playing on Kenna?)

i think D Johnson definately has to come in given that both Sanderson and Milburn are out. Would also think that Gardiner would play because of his flexibilty. Would love to see both Mackie and Tenace make their debuts.

Here's the official team-- and while we all had forseen the need for a lot of chances, I don't think any of us had as many as seven of them.

GEELONG
B:
Harley, Scarlett, Rooke
HB: Rahilly, Mooney, Hunt
C: Chapman, Enright, Kelly
HF: Kingsley, Playfair, Haynes
F: Gardiner, McCarthy, Bartel
FOLL: Chambers, Corey, Ling
I/C: Spriggs, Koulouritis, Tenace, Moloney, Callan, Johnson, Mackie
IN: Gardiner, Moloney, Tenace, Koulouritis, D.Johnson, Callan, Mackie
OUT: Milburn (knee), Sanderson (calf), Graham (chest), Riccardi (calf)
NEW: Tenace (Murray Bushrangers), Koulouritis (Port Adelaide), Mackie (Glenelg)

Mind you, three players will have to be dropped by Sunday to get down to the standard 22-man squad.

But still, that's a lot of changes.

If McCarthy doesn't perform this weekend, he's got to be dropped. Why he wasn't dropped this week has me wondering what goes on in those delusional heads of Mark Thompson and co.

The point I'm trying to make is if he's not performing they can't just keep playing him for the sake of it. They should at least trial other blokes. We can't always depend on McCarthy; he's simply not, well, dependable.
