Well it was a frustrating day, and I have let the emotion settle. A simple point, the thing that cost us most was selfish decisions. Bock on numerous occasions decided to back himself when there were much better options. I had so much anger directed at him. Number 2 candidate, Mattner. Once again so many better options, but decided to back himself to get past, seriously Marty you're not that good. Then there was the instance where he handballed straight to an Essendon player, who slotted it straight through the middle. Scott Welsh (a perennial candidate) having shots he shouldn't, why kick around the corner from 40 when in the open, when you can turn, run at the goal and kick a goal instead of being a showman FFS. GET OFF MY TEAM. Jason Torney was not nearly as bad, but still did unselfish acts like contesting balls, when he should let his teammates go up for it, at least on 3 occassions this resulted in his teammate getting the ball on the outside of the contest. I could go on and on and on, but the anger is returning. Selfish football= losing football. Where's this team for all South Australians we hear about, seams for like the Individual for All South Australians. :(

You may see Bock as being selfish, but I'd much rather the kid backed himself and had a red hot dip rather than standing around like a stale bottle of pi55 for 4 or 5 seconds and handpassing backwards to someone under pressure. And he returned a decent performance today in a losing side.

Bock was a positive today

Dude a return of 3 OOF's and 3.3 is despicable. He did present himself, but that doesn't win you games. Better to be methodical and boring than doing things you can't do and ****ing up time and time again.
Bock is the last player people should be having a crack at.

Bock >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> any other forward.

Compare Bock to our other forwards today. I'll take Bock's 3.3 + 3OOF's anyday over Perrie's performance

If my only options were Perrie, Welsh or shooting for goal, I'd go for goal. The goal that he tried to snap in the pocket was a bad decision but understandable. The closest 4 players were all from the opposition.

I understand where you are coming from kimi but without Bock today we would have struggled to kick any goals at all. He may have been selfish but when the rest of them were as bad they that why the heck not be selfish, you know those others wont do jack all

I know what you're saying, but think about the rest of our forward line, and tell me whether Bock was wrong to back himself in when no one in our forward line looked like they could take a mark or lead into space?

Yes and no. Like I was saying, there were BETTER options. I am in no way cracking on Bock, he "played" well, BUT, he made crucial errors of judgement. Think about it. First quarter Bock marks, kicks OOF just when we were going to get a start. 10 minutes later, similar position, kicks a point. 3rd quarter running down the right HFF, kicks at goal from 40 OOF, and final quarter gets the dish off from Doughty (why he passed to him I have no idea), runs, bounces and instead of kicking to the 3 on 2 contest 30 metres to his left, he tries to beat the tackler, and kicks OOF, just when we looked as though we could muster a comeback. Poor decision making. Tell me those 4 incidents didn't affect the outcome of the game and I'll go pantsdown.

I have no probs with Bock - it is Perrie that I remain steadfastly baffled as to why the AFC persists with this man!?

Actually I think the issue was that on a lot of occasions we didn't back ourselves. We were too cute far too often, we had a lot of the ball but just didn't make them pay the way we know we can.

Sitting to one side of the goals I got a strong feeling that our players were just obsessed with spotting up a target when said players were in goal kicking positions themselves. Douglas today, picked up the ball well in side 50, wheeled around and had enough space to take a shot, but decided to centre it to Scott Welsh who was caught behind and never going to mark it. Craigy acknowledged this in his conference too, said at times the side was trying to be "too perfect" with its delivery into the forward line. I definitely got that impression.

Also, Ian Perrie may well at least bring the ball to ground if not mark it when in a contest, but when you so consistently shank absolute gimme goals, with his sort of experience, I say it's time to go. Fair enough, wait until McGregor returns but I say it's time to look for another, more consistent option. Jimmy Sellar, Kurt Tippett, you've got your chance.

Perrie, Knights, Stevens, Welsh were all pathetic today. At least Bock found the ball, and tried to do something with it, the skills need to be tightened up though :(.

Mattner also wasnt much use, although he seemed to get the ball, he just does nothing with it. Always goes too far, and always when he does get free he is always stuck on the right foot, and then f***s up anyway!!

AARGHHH. I went out and had some set shots at my local ground today after the game, and FFS nailed most shots. yes I know I dont have 45000 people watching me, but cmon, these guys are hardened AFL players and should have got nearly every one of those shots that were missed. That was the difference. essendon get a mark near goals, theyd convert it nerarly everytime. :( Lucas made Stevens look like an idiot. A statue could have meade for better oppostion for the big fella. :thumbsd:

How is it that so many of our players cannot kick the footy correctly... we were terribly outclassed today, but the ineffective kicking is a huge concern.

One of you training gurus or just generally clever people may know how much time is spent on pin point kicking?
