Hiya everyone,

I have a general question or two that I hope people can help me with..

Are there any rules or restrictions about the sending of CD's - either bought CD's from the store, or just CD's containing mp3's from your own private collection?

I assume it's okay to send purchased CD's (for presents etc) but it was mainly the question of sending mp3's that "concerned" me...

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance. :)

Australian customs are generally about the toughest - but I assume you're sending out of Australia instead of into. Regardless, while sending pirated mp3s might technically be illegal, it's very minor, also it would be an extroadinarily zealous official who would bother checking your cd via a computer and then checking to see whether said mp3's are breaking copyright law. As long as you don't write 'illegally pirated cds' on the customs slip you will be right. If you're still bothered about it, just don't make any reference to any mp3s in your letter and instead mention something about the photos that person wanted.

I've sent plenty of cds.

Just bumping this (sorry admins) but what about carrying pirated movies with you back to Australia, either in your hand luggage or your check in?

Is that illegal?

I've come back from asia a few times with anywhere from 50-100 DVD's in my checked luggage and haven't had a problem.
