Just as it says on the tin: What things get you sentimental?

There's plenty for me. "Tubthumping" by Chumbawamba is right up there. Reminds me of being 8-years old and moving next door to this kid who kind of changed my life. He was a good bloke, a year or two older, but he was right into soccer. This all coincided with World Cup 2002. Soccer got me into music, and music got me into a whole other side of 'culture.' Playing World Cup '98 on the Ps one with him, hearing that theme song, and just having a mate like that next door was good fun – even if he was a Richmond fan.

When watching the 08 granny I get a chill down the back of my spine

Sometimes when I listen to an old song, it makes me reminice about my life when that song was popular

Or even just seeing a person or photo from a different time in my life makes me reflect

Things Im sentimental about include my massive lego and technic collection, my trainset which I built with the old man, and the house and suburb I grew up in. Those long summer days hanging out with mates playing cricket and footy at the park from dawn to dusk with not a cre in the world.

Things were so much easier and better when you're a kid....FML.

As necessary and nice as childhood was, I wouldn't trade it for my current life. Life was probably easier, but there were an abundance of things you quite simply couldn't go. Having the freedom of being 18, having time on your hands, and being able to do a lot of things is much superior to being a kid.

And once it gets into your mid 20's with a reasonable job with plenty of disposable income and living with friends (and going out chasing, etc) it gets even better.

Childhood though is awesome, so many hopes and dreams. When you get older your goals etc change but not necessarily for the better. You lose the innocence of growing up kicking to GF winning goal, or captaining to Aus cricket team.

Very much this. The realisation really hits you. Deep down I knew I'd never play for Arsenal or be an AFL footballer, but it was always the dream. When kids you played colts with are trotting out for some of Melbourne's biggest AFL clubs, you know it's over. I guess that ceasing of idolisation grows out of that as well.

I'm a sentimental bastard. I actual like the way a song or a smell reminds you of someone or takes you back to certain time or place.
