Setanta at CHF

As for Carlos at CHF... no way in hell. Seriously, some people on this board this summer really have me shaking my head.

There's no need to be arrogant. So you shake your head oh great Carlton and football expert. Are you old enough to have seen Spalding play?

The point I was making is that there are similarities between the two and if Earl could play the position as well as he did, I think Setanta could have a future there. If you don't agree then you don't agree.

Earl did not do a lot more than battle away, provide contests, and keep us very straight. I think Setanta could offer that and a bit more. Trust me, at his best Earl would still walk into our side today.

Yes. :)

That head is just so... Collingwood.

OT - Aisake should get some time at CHF in 2008.

Looking at what Setanta has done so far he is better suited to the backline, with his strength and determination.

A few times in 2007 he got in Fev's way.

Look at the the job he did on Hall in 2007, fantastic, plus he isn't affraid to stand up to the opposition....remember Llyod and Gehrig...Setanta would belt those tow in a fight any day....let him loose and tell him to take no prisioners!!!

*scoff* are you serious?

That is your definition of toughness?

I suggest you grab yourself a copy of the 89 GF, or a few Schimmelbusch and Michael Voss highlight tapes, maybe tune into to some of those James Hird comebacks from serious career threatening injuries, that's toughness.

PS: she

We're talking abotu Houlihan vs Thomas not Houlihan vs Hird. Considering you didn't stick to the topic I can only assume that you agree that Thomas is a girl even compaired to Houlihan :)

No, Thomas is not a tough player, but not everyone is mate. These types of players are designed to play that specific outside running role in games, be the blokes on the outer of packs to get the ball from the tough nuts and use their skill in the open field. Names like McLeod, Gilbee, Judd, Ablett ring a bell?

We have **** all tall defenders who can stand a big tall forward.

And yet we have people on these boards who'd take away the only player with the build and speed to stand these players and put him at CHF.

Put him at FB and leave him there FFS.

I stopped reading after that

You really have no clue do you? The reason Judd and Ablett are so great is that they can do the tough nut stuff, come out with the ball through traffic and hit a teammate on the chest 50 meters down the field.

That's not tough nut stuff, that's just pure skill. Tough nut stuff is getting down at the bottom of packs, getting yourself bashed and bruised like Bartel and Cousins and West and those types, and manafacturing the ball out of congestion to the guys who can then weave their magic like Judd, Thomas, Ablett, Gilbee, McLeod, so on, so on.

I suggest you go watch some footy. Judd and Ablett do that too. Ablett did more of it last year because Worsfold wanted Judd free the weave his "magic" and used blockers to get him free but he's done plenty of it in the past.

How the frig can you compare Thomas to those names I have highlighted?

Thomas is nothing more than a decent HFF. Yes he may go into the midfield a bit more in 2008, but how about we wait until he gets tagged a few times to see how he goes. Suspect he might struggle a little.

Carlton fans= A fisherman's dream :thumbsu:

So sad... See you next time I read a dud thread on the Carlton board, so soon then, I'm sure.

Was thinking the same thing. Thomas is a just above average soft handbreaking HF flanker, although he is rated much higher in the HUN-Colllingwood-Newsletter-Dreamworld. Putting his name in the same sentence as Judd, Mcleod and Ablett is just bizarre. :)

Houlihan's a beast though...
Our number two pick is a beast and doesn't duck his head or run wide to get his kicks.

Didak must have blacked out again.

He didn't come to the aid of Thomas after Walker stared him down.

One minutes and ten seconds - SQUIBS!

What a girl! :thumbsu:

Second year players should hang their head in shame after those squibs.

Thomas is still built like a TAC player in spite of being top age and is as physical as a netballer.

Maybe he should move sideways to the Vixens.

Walker>>>>>>>>>>Thomas

Yeah, I tend to agree. He should settle on a position in 2008. Thought he was awesome in 2007. Was played all over the place and did well. He has huge versatility, which will always be his asset. Should be used at FB or CHB mostly in 2008 while his game develops. No other team in the AFL has KP defender of his size and athleticism. :)
hahha Ryder?

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! :D

Seriously though, after that comment about Judd and Ablett, I doubt you've actually ever seen them play a game of footy.
