Setting up a subwoofer

So I have a subwoofer I want to connect to my amp for my old man's 60th. The subwoofer has lineout c audio in and out and on the amp has subwoofer out. I've tried using red/white audio cables but no success, do I have to buy a monaural audio cabel?

I'm no expert but it looks like you'll need the mono cable, here's the manual.
