Just rumours mate, I'm not gonna give them any merit... A lot of drunk people today talking a lot of crap. Nothing more, nothing less.

The reason the game was called off was to prevent anything else escalating and because 1 CPL player was sent to hospital with a couple others injured.
I feel for the mount players too, waiting in the rooms anxious to claim the premiership (they were looking like running away with it) no fault of the players from mount at all.

Poor David Cannizzo, he has been fantastic for the league and was enjoying the day like all of us. Now he has to deal with this on a Saturday night, and the reputation that he has worked hard for, being tarnished by a couple of ****heads.

Just a terrible outcome for all involved...
Oh and I want $7.50 back for only getting too see half a game ;-)

Was there a genuine reason for not playing the 2nd half?

Surely the police were already on hand?

My time frames dont add up
Toxic, it should never have come into question. If I was a mount player I would seriously consider leaving the club if major changes weren't made off field. The club let the playing group down today. No 2 ways about it. I feel sorry for the players who have worked hard all year to have it taken away so easily. Some of these players will never get another opportunity to play let alone win another grand final. I hope these supporters are enjoying another beer tonight proud of what they have accomplished.

I agree, however I assume mt were ready to play 2nd half? Plz correct me if I'm wrong.

Mass exodus wouldn't surprise me

However I'm trying to work out why the 2nd half didn't proceed?

Having played in 4 different leagues myself I've never seen a game nor final called off despite some sh1tful stuff occurring

The league is totally accountable .... If u look at this as a business then those running the business did not put the right contingency in place to prevent this happening.... Every other league will beef up security for patrons and players on a grand final.... This quite obviously didn't happen and unfortunately the damage this has done to the league is irreversible.... What I think needs to happen is....

- league board initiates independent investigation on how this could happen and who is accountable both at league and club level

- neither side goes up next year to div 2, sanctions will be placed but surely not deregistered?

This has been brewing in this league for some weeks and it's not just these two sides....maybe the league needs to look at what kind of people are being registered as footballers? Are back ground checks being made ?

At the end of the day it's just a game and a good chance to socialise with guys that have a common interest on a weekend .... It really has all gone a bit too far.

Further more to today's events, this could really hurt all the other clubs when trying to recruit new players. First thoughts will be... Sh#+ comp/ league, crowd fights, and players get attacked by supporters from the opposition. Mmmm if I had a son tossing up between a SFL Div 3 team and let's say a EFL Div 4 side I know which one he would choose. This also has a flow on effect to juniors starting out.

Times have changed Toxic.

Couldn't agree more.... It's a deadset joke.... The league should never have let this happen.
Yes there should have been more security but people need to take responsibility for their own actions. Would any other club request a transfer to another league due to this incident? Almost impossible to recruit quality players now???

Um...because at least 2 or 3 players suffered head injuries from supporters that prevented them from playing the second half??

If all that needs to happen to the best players of an opposing side is a few drunken fools to cause serious head trauma as they approach the rooms, then what is there to stop that happening in the future? ...and how is it fair that a side should take the field with 3 or 4 less players and a couple of injured players and be expected to compete on equal terms with a side who's opposition supporters didn't attack them??

Stupid question mate.

Not a stupid question imho

I wasnt there and am hearing a multitude of rumours..just wanted some facts.
If it was a stupid question dont answer...."mate"

Sorry Daniel I disagree, you run an event you put contingency plans in for this type of occurrence.... The league should have paid more for security of players .... Just because it's a sporting event it's still a business and unfortunately this business (sfl ) is accountable for not only running an event but also the dck heads that attend .... This has negativity out weighs any positivity the league has made in the past five years... It's unfortunate but the league are accountable for this and those responsible for not putting the contingency in place to prevent this from happening must be accountable ....

The league had a service and security hired for this event... The security were the ones not providing the service they are being paid too do. Your right, players should have been protected better to and from the field. And this is a terrible image on the league. But the league can't control every single person attending the event. Their has to surely
Be a duty of care and people being responsible for ones own actions. Anyway, a verdict will
Be reached soon and we will know more and be able to discuss it further amongst ourselves when it is delivered.

Yeah but put it into a business perspective .... U manage an event u cover all contingency scenario... If got example u manage a company and u bring in an outside contractor to look after something that doesn't work out who do u think wears the blame and responsibility? Not the contractor.... The manager..... The league ****d up end of story ....

Anyway enough of this what are the rumours for next year? I have heard Hallam twos are looking very strong ??? Lol just stirring!!!

may need to rethink alcohol policy.
vafa = no alcohol = no need for security

After the dust settled I heard a couple of Mount supporters at the ground mention that the "free beer" for the supporters involved wasn't a good idea......now obviously there wasn't any free beer at the ground, so i doubt banning beer for the 3.5-4K supporters at the ground would have had much impact on the 10-15 Mount supporters who were clearly drinking (presumably on the club tab) before they arrived.

I think to blame the league is just giving mount a get out clause. It's a little unfair to think the admin could ever expect anything like this to happen. Does anyone know what time the meeting is this morning?

Very interesting footage has been released on a FB post. When I say "interesting" I mean "interesting". From what I've seen, the Hallam FC may find themselves involved as one of the obvious culprits is a current Hallam player who strikes a very strong resemblance to a FORMER Dandenong, Doveton, Skye and Sandown player.

Can you link the post... If its the person I think your talking about, he was trying to break up the scuffle then got hit and it was me that dragged him out...

It's on the SFL FB page. And it is the guy you dragged out of the fight.

Ok, just saw the footage. If you watch the very start, there is a guy wearing a mount top (#3) with dread like hair. This is the guy that I first saw throw the punches. The guy I dragged was trying to break the scuffle up. He then got hit and tried to make himself involved. I ran in and dragged him out before he did anything at all.
But take note, the very start of the video the guy with the dreads wearing number 3, was the guy I saw first start throwing punches.

This video is taken about a minute after the initial "brawl / ambush"
