This year is far more open than the last couple of years. There are 4 legitimate Premiership chances this season as opposed to 2 last year.

East Brighton have been the yard stick since mid season and have earned favoritism. They are strong all over the ground and have potent scoring potential. Do they have the depth if they lose a couple of key players during the finals? They were super impressive on Saturday but their real test awaits them. They have all of the pressure on them.

St.Pauls have been quietly going about their season and have also been impressive. They have won the Flag only a couple of years ago and still have many of the winners still at the club. They have also recruited impressively and it is all coming together at the right time.

St.Kilda City are my favorite to win the flag. They have been a bit up and down this season but at their best they are the real deal. Lets not forget what they did to the flag favorites last year. They also have the best player in the comp up and firing.

Chelsea Heights have been cruelled by injury. If they get most of the walking wounded back on the track they can challenge. They beat East Brighton away only a couple of weeks ago but I fear that everything must go right for them from here and at this time of the year, that seldom happens.

Cheltenham are up against it, especially as their Coach and champion player has been unavailable due to injury. Dont be surprised if they take a scalp during the finals because they play with great spirit and have developed a fantastic culture amongst their many young blokes that have come through the ranks. They are building nicely for the next few years.

St.Kilda City to beat a gallant East Brighton comfortably
St.Pauls to finish 3rd, Chelt to upset Chelsea Heights and finish 4th and an unlucky Chelsea Heights to finish 5th.

Most of your predictions have been ordinary but if St.Pauls don't finish above the Saints I'll be scratching my head. Injuries can cruel any teams hopes so you can back that the team with the healthiest list will probably take it out. If EB win the 2nd Semi and go straight through the odds would shorten considerably

Aren't you the bloke that only watches a game here and there LOL
Also how did Heighters go this week ??? If you are still waiting to only see the Preliminary, I don't think you will be seeing Chelsea in it as they have far to many injured players and Flack is a very big out as he is one the best players in the comp

Needed two cracks at me FG? Tut tut...

Anyways, yes I am, but I get the local rag and hear a bit around the place. I heard today for example that Flack may never play again.

As for the weekend, CH's 22 were no match for St Pauls 22 and St Pauls are to be congratulated on their victory. I wasn't at the game but I believe the scoreboard can't lie when the difference is as it was come the final siren.

Personally, I believe fourth is CH's level this year. Certainly aren't the team they were last season from what I have seen.

Thanks Mahalo. Some interesting analysis. Surprised to hear you have City as your top pick before EB considering EB beat your side by ten goals (with some big names out) whilst city only won by a goal (with a full deck of cards). I agree that City have the best player in the league. If Poyas goes beserk its good night Irene. However if he is held then City may really struggle. Doggies are my tip. They have a full playing list. A couple of gun recruits mid year. Had a finals like build up on Saturday and accounted for Chelsea easily. Everything falling in to place for the Doggies

Well said FP the Doggies are the smoky

Any updates on clubs vote counts after the weekend??

Does any club involved in finals not count those games in the B & F polling. If not why not? Surely finals count as part of the season and players should be eligible to record votes. Different story for League honours as not all clubs are in finals but why wouldn't you vote in all games played at club level?

Re: Div 1 2011

Hey gardener, or should that be propeller head, what is it with your fascination of years gone by?

I'll make a statement right now, Dingley will finish above St. Pauls in 2011 and you will still be a goose!!! Hows that?

On footy classified this would be called "Bad call."

History suggests that year to year not many sides finish above St. Pauls. Foolish statement to suggest Dingley would finish above St Pauls this year and in reality any year for that matter. Sounds like Mahalo got carried away in the pre season hype. A common mistake. St. Paul's people rarely make any big statements about there prospects yet always seem to make fianls. Once again they've achieved this. Any big predictions for Dingley next year?

Dingley are an enigma. Great facilities, great support base yet little success. Good bunch of blokes. Not sure their policy of paying the coaches the amount they are will pay dividends, time will tell. $20K of that expense could be spent on players for a better result certainly in the short term but at least they have a process in place. Whether it works or not is anyones guess but it would have appeared to have failed dismally in 2011. 1 win against Tooronga in the second half of the year is testimony to that. As far as St.Pauls are concerned one needs to take one's hat off to them. They certainly give their supporters value for money

East Brighton B & F are counting all games played. So finals are counted
I think St.Kilda City did it on Saturday night with E.Poyas winning from M.Quinn
(not 100% on that )
Yeh that is right Seniors
Ezra Poyas – 154
Myles Quinn – 106
Gary Johnstone – 82

Heres a prediction that will be 100% accurate.

If and when East Brighton fail to win the flag, You will crawl back in the hole that you have lived in until half way through this season!!!

Re: Div 1 2011

You are an easier target to get a stupid quote from than Barnaby Joyce!!!

Unlike you, i have a job and havent got the time to go over the messages since the pre season to drag out a couple that may have been slightly inaccurate! Perhaps you and Batfink are a tag team? Do you spend all day together?

When is the Presentation Night for the Minor Premiership?

Dont choke mate. Say hello to BatFink for me!

It is called having a memory fool LOL

I know you would know nothing about the Minor Premiership as it is for the team that finishes on top and you get to have a week off but that is all you get so lets hope it helps to win the big one

Also how many flags have you one in 60 odds years ?????

Mahola it is not just batfink that has picked on you ( hope you haven't been crying to much ) as everyone has had a go at you, thats what happens when you are wrong all the time. Thats why I only say the facts
You haven't got anything right all year so you are a good fit with your club as they have got it all wrong as well
Please find someone who thinks you have got it right :D:D

Also are you liking the song ???????:D:D Hope you have a great day

Yeah we have to wait till after finals for the presentation night so sometime in Oct. Is Dingleys on this weekend as you would have probably booked the venue early in the year knowing your Septembers are free of footy. :D:D
