The Melbourne football club has a responsibility to it's members to explain this deplorable and insipid side we keep fielding at AAMI.

Regardless of the opposition or the players we take over, the same team of half arsed limps give the crows or the Power a bye and leaves us chasing our wins from a reduced fixture of 20 games and starting from 50% percent behind.

We have turned enough of the list over for it not to be a list issue.
Blame now rests with the footy department and the coaching. They never get our players up for these games. Look at the pies, you can't tell me that they just get lucky and keep drafting players that travel well. Malthouse prepares ultra hard strategically and prepares the players mentally and they near on win them all. We must significantly change how we approach interstate games and we as a supporter group should demand explanations from the club we have all opened our wallets for in recent times.

To accept this twice a year every year for a decade is to accept mediocrity.
I've never seen a mediocre premiership team.

Time to start making some noise Dees supporters we have a genuine right for an answer from our footy department.

Every club has a right to be pissed off with the MFC about our performances out west! Potentially 16 points and a bucketload of percentage we give away each and every season!

Senior players and coaching staff need to take full responsibility for todays loss. We as members want to know what you are going to do to stop this pathetic approach to our games out west in the future. Why should we bother even watching our games in Adeleiade or Perth? We haven't fired a shot in a decade in either town. Gone past the joke stage now.

We couldn't even get close for our so called 'beloved' captain's 250th! That's how much the players care about you junior! With a performance like that, I'd be thankful you're leaving at the end of the season.

Someone draft a letter, I'll put my sig on it. Must be plenty of Demons members on here, in fact I assume we all are. I agree something fundamental must change, I have no idea what it is but they appear to go about it all wrong. You would think after 10 years it would deserve some significant attention.

Your 100% right THE D but i honestly think the coaching staff nor the players have any idea why the team performs so poorly over at Adelaide!
Must be a mental (i hope) thing, otherwise lets just not waste our time going over there & save some %!

**** me, what a thread. Somebody start a faction and run for the board. If the worst thing about us at the moment is two losses a year at some shitbox stadium opposite a shopping centre in the middle of nowhere then we're going pretty well.

It's not like you're in poor company on this front though. WCE have only beaten Port once in nine starts at AAMI and that was way back in 1998 by 2 points.

Essendon are in the same boat, with their last win here coming over a decade ago in 2000.

Conversely we've only beaten North in Melbourne twice in 10 starts - a record that would be even worse if not for the 3 losses at Manuka and 1 at the SCG. You've also done a number on us pretty regularly at the G even during the 2002-4 period.

Just one of those things.

I don't think it's just the loss that hurts when we travel West. It's the way we lose. Big margins! We don't even get close in 95% of the games out West. We look lethargic and uninterested in most of the second halves I've seen us play in Adelaide and Perth. Especially Adelaide. Our record there is absolutely disgraceful and something has to be done about it.

Why are we so poor interstate? We've only won 2 games this season away from the G, an unconvincing 1 point win against Port on nuetral ground, and another unconvincing 10 point win against an insipid Brisbane team. Surely we have to try something different in future interstate games. Any ideas????

I am an interstate member and am fed up with the melbourne fc coming to adelaide. not only do the SA Demons have to put up with watching poor performances year after year, the president of the SA Demons organises an after match function and gets told chris connolly and a player will attend. but after waiting an hour, no one from the club turns up.
leaving the function, i see the boys walking out onto the bus, a crowd of dees fans still applauding them as they walk past and they are ignored by every coach and every player apart from junior and beamer. the fans that stayed the entire game, attended a function to see them and watched them leave didnt get so much as a smile or wave from the team they only get to see once or twice a year.
i pay for a membership, fly interstate to see games, donate to debt demolition, buy directly from the club shop and bid at the auctions. i think us SA demons deserve a little bit more respect from the club we love so much. shame on you melbourne fc. :thumbsd:

Must admit, a little dissapointing to hear that about the function. Perhaps politely contact the club as I'm more than sure they would value feedback such as this or be able to clarify the circumstances.

As far as the players go it is hard to sometimes scrutinise body language if it is a dejected group but yeah just 2 (senior) players showing acknowledgement of the supporters is a little slim.

Well it sounds to me like a summation of our clubs attitude interstate which is insipid and passionless.
Results reflect attitude and it is no surprise our results interstate are rubbish.

Seriously mate write a letter, and email and ring the club to let them know what you have told us here because they need a rocket from the passionate members who have followed the club through all the crap in the last 45 years, opened wallets to save the club, and live interstate. You shouldn't be treated to pathetic garbage year in year out.

You have a right to be pi$$ed and the club has a responsibility to give you an explanation and in this case an apology in return.

We really have to fix this problem we have when we're playing interstate, especially in Adelaide and Perth, otherwise it'll be a major obstacle to our progress next year.

As D said, it's obvious that our preparation for trips like this is poor, most of the time we seem to come into these matches without the right attitude, and play without the requisite commitment, and that's a recurring theme. It's inexcusable.

This pattern of pathetic performance in such games has gone on far too long. It cannot be borne. Things have to change. Otherwise, yeah, the players may as well stay home.

The Crows have generally been super-competitive against whoever they've played at home in the past decade. You're not the only side who struggles to win here, and your mob has had a rough past few seasons as well. Lost count of the number of times I've seen Adelaide look comfortably outgunned playing away against a side, only to push them every step of the way in the corresponding game at home, oftentimes beating them. A lot of clubs measure how they're tracking in terms of their premiership chances by how they fare against Adelaide at AAMI. Can distinctly remember both Geelong in 2007 and Hawthorn in 2008 saying that when they once they knocked the Crows off on their turf, they knew they weren't far off.

Prior to Fremantle and West Coast hitting nasty troughs in recent times, it was very much the same story for all clubs at Subiaco. House of Pain, remember?

You blokes will be back, and when you are, you'll come over here and win.
