This thread took a bizarre turn. I've never smoked myself, but I like the smell of cigarette smoke. Always have. Banning smoking in pubs and clubs is the worst thing they could have done. The stench of people farting is all to regular of an occurrence now. At least it used to mask that. Also, nightclubs with a cigarette smoke haze hovering below the ceiling had a great atmosphere.

I only like the smell and taste of cigs on girls as it reminds me of an innocent easier time in my life. lol

The only problem with vaping is that it looks absolutely ridiculous :P The one thing smoking has going for it is that you look kind of cool while you're doing it. Take that away and you might as well stop altogether and not bother with the vaping :P

That didn’t happen overnight.
Didn’t it become obvious you were gaining a fair bit of weight. Isn’t 5 stone about 35 kgs?
Funny but the amount of weight didnt register. Back then I was about 32 and just promoted so my biggest focus was on achieving the objectives that were set for me. Without smoking I started eating peppermints all day long, then a single pasty for lunch became a pie and pasty. My evening meal stayed about the same but snacking afterwards replaced my smoking. My job involved a lot of paper work so I had also become more sedatory. So the weight increase was gradual and it didnt seem important because the job was demanding.

I gave up smoking cold turkey even went through my mothers funeral where all the family were smoking, without taking a smoke. But losing weight has been one hell of a lot harder.

Thats funny, for me when I gave up smoking I was in around my 6th month of not having a ***. Then we decided to move from rental to buying a home. As part of the rental agreement I had to find new renters. Well back then if you can remember the girls that used to work for Avis were always dressed up and looked gorgeous. Anyway this car rolled up and out came two gorgeous women ( about 25) and I told my wife that she didnt have to bother and that I would sort this out. When the girls got closer the first thing that I noticed was the smell, the stink of cigarette smoke. Straight away I called for my wife to come and help me. Anyway once the girls left it dawned on me that all of the times I had come home in earlier attempts to give up smoking and told my wife that I didnt have a smoke during the day, she knew I was bullshitting yet she never said a word. And I thought I had got away with a little lie.

Today when I am in the club losing a few dollars on the pokies the smell on people that smoke can obnoxious enough to make me leave that machine and find another one that will take my money.

Smoking isn’t just about harm to the lungs, it can also cause damage to the arteries and a risk for heart attacks, stroke, visual problems and the biggest social stress of them all, impotence!

Social smoking is ok but it’s the smoking addiction/dependence that will end up hurting or killing you.

I don't like the smell of cigarette smoke but I don't mind cigar smoke and I love pipe smoke. I don't mind sticking my nose into the odd tobacco pouch and inhaling the lovely bouquet. But the smoke from ordinary cigarettes is intolerable.

Giving up the ciggies is a great achievement having done it myself 14 years ago when my first kid came along. But yeah losing weight when your over 40 (I’m 51) is not fun and I’m only looking for a few Kg’s less. I’ve found its hard to get in a new eating habit but when it sticks the kilos start falling away rapidly. Exercising to weight loss is way less effective than calorie control as no one has time to exercise for 3 hours a day

Wow 1999 I would have bet my mother on it that it was way more recent - back in the day at the Holdy or the Seacliff all clothes required a rewash. Now I get shitty if I am in Bali having a meal and everyone around us lights up, it drives me nuts!

The smoking rooms in Indonesian airports are hilarious!

I couldnt go to the footy without having a beer. As soon as I get a beer in my hand........
Do you get stressed/anxious watching the footy? My ecig gets a good workout when the footy's on lol.
If I could duck out the back of the stand I'd go. Out the ground? No doubt I cant take my beer with me. It just seems like too much hassle when it comes to that. Pass out/pass in. Walk for miles. Cant get beers/food in the break as I'm traipsing in and out the ground. Rushing around so not to miss anything.
I'm not complaining, thats the rules and I can live with that. I'm just glad to still be alive.
I just mentioned it to give a perspective from the other side of the coin.

What a journey you have had.
GBS on top of it all as well
I completely understand your concerns re anxiety if you attended AO.
From the Eddie Betts pocket it is not too far to venture outside for a vape.
I can’t speak for other areas though.
I found Footy Park really difficult

I would really encourage you to give attendance a go. Perhaps stream the game on your phone to make it less stressful about missing parts of it being outside the oval.

While we're on the 'off topic' topic of smoking. :P

Can I just say one of the biggest annoyances I have of going to the footy is when smokers light up on the footbridge after a game. There's literally no way to escape it without jumping into the Torrens. I'll call the person out whenever I see someone do it. Kids don't need to be inhaling that crap.

I vape, but only because its considerably cheaper than cigarette smoking, and I get the same hit from it

Geez I remember back in the day at Crows games seeing pregnant women smoking while seated.

Not sure when the rules changed where they had to smoke outside the ground.

Not a fan vape. For me thats just the same as smoking.
The rules changed in about '97 when Port came in. I assume she is now the proud grandmother of some new Port fans

'Cool' - are you 13?
