Have only seen him play once, and that was at Skilled this year in the NAB - looked handy, probably your best that day actually. Had a group of mates there who were just off their faces yelling out 'We love you Shane Valenti!' every time he want near it or came around the boundary - very humerous Garry.
 
glad to see I was wrong and Shane is getting a run this week... think we'll see him rack up 20 possies and 6 clearances...
 
Quick question. Why was there all the fuss about having to lose Wonna in a few weeks time when we could lose Valenti instead?
 
We will lose both, Grimes by all reports will be off the long term injury list 3-4 weeks and no one really knows with Nieta he seems to be struggling by all reports but he will get back for at least 1 more game

I really enjoyed watching Valenti play today. First I've really seen of him and he isn't afraid to go after the ball or go in hard. And that tackle that he made when he knocked the ball out was great!

He will be a little dynamo for years to come!

So from Neitz's retirement, am I correct in stating that Wanna is safe for the rest of the season, but Valenti is still will 100% return to the rookie list when Grimes returns? Why not retire Yze and put Valenti in for the season?

Wonna isn't necessarily safe and Valenti isnt 100% to return to the rookie list, but you are correct that we can keep a rookie elevated for the rest of the year because of Neitz's medically enforced retirement.

If Yze/Holland retired it wouldn't be for medical reasons like Neitz, so we wouldn't be able to elevate a rookie.

You're also making the assumption that if we have to demote a rookie that it would be Valenti.

So it doesn't necessarily have to be Wona because he was promoted directly with the Neitz injury M4C? we can actually chose who goes back? cool. Doesn't make the decision easier but good to know.

Actually Wona was elevated when Grimes was put on the LTI list, so Neita has no bearing on him being demoted if that is the rule. I'd hope that when Grimes is fit the club will be able to make the choice as to who stays on, rather than be forced to keep a player promoted that may not necesarily warrant it (although Im not saying that about either of our boys, purely hypothetically)

shane valenti played at my junior club and know him personally.
he is the hardest working bloke i know.
if he doesn't play the restof the season with the dees then bailey has a serious problem.
anyone liken him to nathan foley?
 
How did Valenti go today. While I can see his stats, did he have much impact on the game? How is he coping with the speed of AFL in contrast to the VFL? Do you see him getting a few more games before getting dropped back to the rookie list?

i gather this is a fantasy footy question...

had 12 posessions today... not getting the ball perhaps as much as we hoped, but it is still only early in his career... has good composure and generally uses it pretty well...

think he will get a few more games, but unfortunately when jack grimes comes off the injury list, shane will be demoted back to the rookie list ahead of aussie wonaemerri one would think...

this is why i won't be picking him up unfortunately... trent cotchin i think...

What did people think of his game? i thought it was pretty good for a 3rd gamer 19 touches. When he was under a bit of pressure he turned it over by foot, but when he has got time and bit of space his skills are qurie good. His skills will improve with mroe game time and he was very tough and physical around the contests.

With Brock at for the year he could fill his role with his ability to win clearences and the contested ball. As they say when one door closes, another one opens!!!
 
I can see why there were doubts about his ability to make it in the AFL, he really is short and by no means quick.

His decision-making will get better with time (and with McLean out, he should get a good run in the team) and I hope he can make a go of it.
 
Yeah you'd think with Brock now out for the season that we would have to have him in the middle for most of the season now.

I really do like the look of this kid and hope he comes up trumps in the future!
