I feel that the inclusion of Cox in the backline will help in eliminating the pertinacious tag that has dogged Shaw for parts of the yesterseason.

Just about the best 'baulker', 'dummy seller' in the game.

Been a fan for a long time.

A beautiful kick, cool as a cucumber under pressure and takes em on.

Love him! :) :thumbsu:

Pendles and Daisy both have him licked for selling the dummy!

6That laconic run straight until you are basically gone and then shimmy is a dangerous ploy and one that may lead me to an early grave lol

But he seems to have that strange uncanny ability of getting away with it all the time, cant recall him getting tackled once on the weekend. :)

Harry on the other hand should be instructed to offload the ball immediately to his nearest teammate. When he gets the ball, he tries to either (a) blind turn the opponent and walk straight into a tackle from a second opponent or (b) raises the arms up in the air whilst getting tackled around the waist, and then handballing to no one as he gets flung.

I say Shannon Cox has already made us a better side, and these are my reasons;

1. He has replaced Rhyce Shaw, the turnover king.
2. When Heath Shaw returns, it will allow Marty Clarke to play more on the ball/wing.
3. His kicking ability is better then anyone else on that backline.
4. He provides run, carry yet unlike Wakelin, Presti, Harry, Goldsack in the past, he doesnt get caught.
5. He can also play a defensive role if needed.
6. He can also go forward, has shown that at VFL level.

Overall, he replaces Rhyce Shaw, who always played 15-20 games despite his turnovers and utter ineptness.

Coxy reminds me a lot of Gavin Crossisca, with a little more flair maybe.

Disagree.

Most opponents anticipate Daisy's dummy now. He runs himself out of trouble these days.

And as for Pendles, lets just say the bloke must have some serious B.O.

For a big guy, Coxy just does it beautifully. You can't help but admire his confidence after playing just a handfull of senior games.

haha i see what you mean by the crossica siilarities but i rekon he just looks like him a bit playing a similar role. Yeah i agree 100% with all the comments above. He will ultimatley add so much more, perhaps even relinquishing Heath Shaw of that tag that pretty much ruined him last season. Coaches will have to think twice about their structures now on the backline. As long as Brown starts firing gain i rekon we will shut down forward lines

I've always had some interest in Cox. But, like all players he has his doubters.

James bond likes Cox???? Meh wouldnt have picked that one

P.s. Cox isnt in the team to be a defender he is a set up player and bloody good at it. Birchall can defend, Enright's not a defender, Goddard, Adcock, McLeod but theyr all guns. Keep the faith, he'll be great for us.

With all the defensive defenders we've got, it's really a 'no brainer'. Goldsack, Toovey and Brown to name a few.

Cox is playing well atm and is reliable down back. Would be good to see both him and Shaw rebounding off half back. The backline should line-up as follows

Harry O Presti Maxwell
Cox Brown Shaw
(With Goldsack on the bench.)
My only worry is we've got no one to play on the small forwards. Toovey is terrible and not up to it.

The problem is that Maxwell's never called upon to actually defend. HarryO is just about the best defender in the league on small forwards but if there are three talls, he gets one. He has to be our number one player taking the smalls (and sometimes the athletic running talls). Look what he does to Chapman in the real stuff..He Eats the bloke alive and he does it all of the smalls. We need Malthouse to make Max more accountable and its problem solved. Shaw can get one if theres more and we've still got Lockyer....

Last Year Shannon Cox was a dud he seemed to have no clue what to do with the ball. Towards the end of the year he started to play well. The game against adelaide in round 1 he played very good he is a big improver for the club and hopefully can be consistent!:)
