How does this prick's music keep selling?

After he won Australian Idol in 2003 and he started his whole "country" gimmick I figured it would bomb because the people who watch Australian Idol are teenage girls who (I thought) wouldn't go for that crap.

But low and ****ing behold 5 years on and his crap is still profitable

So who's buying it? Dumb teens? Bogans?

Album sale statistics aren't a sign of how many people are actually buying the album. For example, if Sanity orders 30,000 copies to stock in it's stores, that figure is recorded as 30,000 albums sold, but Sanity might only move 10,000 of those, then the remainder spend forever in the $10 bin, or the excess gets picked up by the Reject shop and they try and sell them for $5 a pop. So out of that 30,000 that one vendor originally ordered, the total actually purchased by the public can easily be less than half, but it still goes on record as 30,000 sold.
Now multiply that by all the other music retailers and you get some very deceiving numbers.

Only song of his I've heard that I liked at all 'Lift'. And even that is not brilliant. 'Let's Get Loud' is one of the more awful, thoughtless and embarrassing songs I've heard.

I'll go against the grain here and say I really like his music.

I ignored him for years, mainly because I'm not a consumer of the Australian Idol type shows. So I wrote his music off without ever listening to it. (Sort of like a kid does saying they don't like a food without ever tasting it).

I heard one of his album tracks in a shop one day (I asked the store assistant who sang it) so I decided to listen to more of his music. And it resonated with me.

So I'm happy to stick up for him. I get that he is not everyone's cup of tea, but we all have different musical tastes.

This was the track I heard by the way.
