Anyone ever been shark diving? Would love to hear of any experiences, where it was, what you seen, the best and worst of it and so on.

I am planning to muster up the balls to go. I love Great Whites, although they terrify me ever since Jaws.

Would love some feedback on those who have been, or are interested aswell.

I'll add a poll too.

I went shark diving in Fiji a few years ago. It wasn't cage diving with great whites, just a supervised SCUBA dive with reef sharks and bull sharks. We were hoping to see some tiger sharks as well, but they couldn't be bothered turning up.

It was pretty cool. The dive guides kept the bigger sharks at bay with long poles, but the smaller sharks we free to swim up to us. There wasn't much risk of any of the sharks trying to snack on us seeing as there were wheelie bins full of fish carcasses for them to feast on.

If you've done any SCUBA diving then this style of dive is pretty enjoyable; just sit there and watch the sharks do their thing.

Aren't bull sharks the most aggressive sharks out there?

I've dived freely with reef sharks in Thailand but I don't know whether I'd be game to dive with bull sharks without a cage.

Sounds exciting though nevertheless.

Shark diving would be awesome. Would love to do it up north off exmouth or something.

Yeah, they have that reputation. I felt completely safe on the dive though, like I said the instructors were making sure that the more dangerous sharks kept their distance. There's always the risk that something will go wrong, but isn't that part of the reason that we do these things, for the thrill?

I went shark diving off the Neptune Islands not far from Port Lincoln.

Cost about $500 for the Shark Diving. It was a 3 hour boat ride out to the site. It was a bit choppy so I spent most of the 3 hours with my face in a spew bag.

The ride home was calm as ****, go figure.

Did you get to see any sharks? What types?

Do you get the $500 or at least some of it back if you don't see the sharks?

Was it worth it?

Just watched episodes of Monsterquest on youtube on Great Whites. Only got me more curious about them. Hopefully people on here can share some experiences in some detail. Even some footage or photos.
