This. He has no interest playing for you guys unless he's making top dollar.
He has talent no doubt, but...

He would be a terrible leader for your younger players, often shouts at players and argues, is selfish and rarely turns up. Last example I can think of is him shouting at Krakouer after giving away that dodgy free at the end of the game in round 22 vs North.
Of course that is why Port Adelaide's coach wants him......watch the feralsd from Port come out and bag a champion player who has given great service to the Power. No wonder her wants to leave with all the comments that the Power supporters are posting!!!
Burgoyne is a class act....he would be a great fit at Melbourne. I hope he nominates for the PSD and you get him for nothing!!

Reports are that he wants $750k from Melbourne, but would play for the Hawks or Dons for 600k.

Rules out Shaun to Melb?

Seems that he's starting to sound a bit like Juddas now...

Melbourne are in a worst position than Port, and yet he'd be a 'great' fit for them?

Too true. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Port end up in the bottom 4 next year...

There's a lot more potential in Melbourne's list than Port's.
Port's list isn't bad.

Have a great young FB in Carlile with the likes of Krakeour and Surjan at his feet, a promising midfield with the likes of Boak, Salopek, Pearce, Davenport and Westhoff and Ebert up top.

They have the nucleus of a good side, just lacking a bit of hardness probably and that results in the inconsistency they showed last year.

Tell him and the media we are not the least bit interested, take the PSD out of the equation and then watch him grovel to get 450 a year from any team. What is more the team that takes him will have to pay hard in picks and with any luck he will be resented for it by them. Screw him. I'm sick of these tyre kicking time wasters.

yep. if the reported is true. id rather see us burn him as an option b4 he "chooses" another club.

and, then id like to see $600,000 cash inside our 2010 premiership cup and a public message to him on the premiership stand! :)

Yea... whatever.

Anyway I hope you guys don't get him, A backwards step that you don't need IMO.

I don't care if he chooses us and we have the cash, if he wants $750,000 he can go get stuffed.
Absolutely.

Having said that, if it some how came down to getting him in the PSD I doubt that he will be sticking to such a high figure. He runs the risk of falling to other clubs or not being grabbed at all if 750k is still the figure.

The way I see it, Plan A is do everything to get to Hawthorn with Plan B being MFC or EFC as a back up in which case he may renegotiate salary. All speculation I know but given he has been in talks with Hawthorn since June it makes sense that everything he has done so far has been to mould a deal with them. We are a genuine fall back option in the PSD or as an alternative trade option (Essendon have pick 10 though) if it comes to that but in the mean time we serve more as a valuable tool to aid Plan A. IMO we are being used atm but he may come to the party if he is in the situation where he can't go to the Hawks or won't because of their offer. It is all going to be interesting as it pans out, Hawthorn are apparently hard up to even meet 500k so we may be able to use this to advantage - who knows?

At least Pearce is off the table. :)

I'd pay him $700k if we got him in the PSD, but not via a trade. Via the PSD, we'd keep pick 18 and a suitable trade (Jamar, Warnock, Jones).

I'm sure the leadership group would be consulted, and if they don't have a problem with Burgoyne being the highest paid player, then the supporters have got nothing to complain about.

We don't need him. We need a forward first and another key position defender.

Pace in the midfield and a key forward are the needs. No more key defenders unless they want to play forward.

Its still good to have some depth, but no point dropping a high pick on a KPD. I wouldn't mind Dylan Grimes, if we could get him pick 34 or something. Or someone like Sheppard.

Presuming there is no PSD card, is there any chance of pick #2 if we throw in pick #8?

According to Cameron Schwab, not a chance of us parting with pick 2 at all.

I'd rather Trengove than whoever we would get at #8 besides I don't want us paying him $750,000 a season even if we could get him in the PSD.

$750,000 is far too much unless you are Gary Ablett or Lance Franklin.
