third game and he's batting at Number 3.

The boys got talent.

He has played for Australia before this summer, you know.

Not so sure on Ferguson, he has a great average due to not outs at the bottom of the order, doubt he is up to no3.

Don't open that can of worms. You'll have a hard time convincing anyone here that Ferguson might not be as good as his ODI average indicates.

Averages about 50 @ 5 and 6 in the Order, Marsh in the same spot averages about 65, maybe Marsh is better suited to the finisher role and could do it better than Ferguson

Cameron White on the other hand sees his average improve as he moves up the order

40 at 4 and 5 and 67 @ no3 with a century and 50 from 3 innings. Does alot better when building the innings but at the same time is very damn good when just finishing, struggles in that spot in between

Yep, White has done very well at 3 when he's been asked to do it. It makes sense as it gives him time to play himself in and he needs that and I think Marsh down the order would be more useful as well.

id still have marsh over every batsmen except maybe watson at the moment

Good call, but we will be getting Punter back. If he continues his good ODI form, Australia will have a few players that can really punish the opposition.

Further proof you don't watch cricket.

If Ferguson was a Victorian you'd be spoofing all over him. Fact is, Ferguson has taken the opportunities given and has composure, temperament and technique which has impressed those who have watched him.

He's miles ahead of White in terms of technique, and would no doubt be a better no 3.

I know Marsh is injured, but we shouldn't be comparing these two guys and arguing who should be in the team. They BOTH should be in the team. The are relatively young and they should be nearing the prime of their international careers, yet neither are in the best 15 one day cricketers in Australia? As much as I like Ponting, the game seems to be rapidly passing him by. Clarke has been in terrible form, yet no scrutiny from where it counts. Michael Hussey has a serious injury and we're hoping that he'll come good. What if he and Ponting both don't come good and Clarke stays in his rut of poor form? These guys are our specialist batsmen, if they aren't primed we are stuffed! Especially looking at our bowling. These two guys should have played a lot more for Australia in all forms of cricket. Yet they haven't - and we may pay for that in the future.

I would agree with you except for the caveat that Shaun Marsh can't stay on the park. He doesn't play complete seasons. He was in the test squad at one point a couple years ago, then got injured and fell away from it and hasn't really been in top class ODI form since either which is a shame as his last couple of seasons have been very good form wise at domestic level in all formats.

I think he's got a suspect temperament but I'd love to see him in the t20 squad.

Taking 2 very much underdone players in Huss and Punter and 2 players who just look out of form in White and Clarke to the WC is really winging it and we'll have to have a tremendous amount of luck to go our way to get to the semis as the fielding looks very average on top of the batting.

Leading Big Bash scorer with 328 runs. I know it's only 20/20 but his head seems to be in right space, footwork good, has all the shots back and has regained confidence.!!

GO SOS :):)

yep was always a talented player T20 seems to suit him more then test cricket likes to play shots and has beautiful timing (best ive seen in T20 format) not sure we will see him back to test cricket anytime soon, having said that should be playing tommorow if those selections are to go by

He's an amazing T20 franchise player. Don't be surprised to see him give up state/national duties to whore himself around the world.
Think that's a bit unfair, he's been nothing but loyal to the WACA.

Oh I'm not having a go at him per se; in a lot of ways, it would make sense for him financially to do what I suggested.

When in form, IMO he is second to only Clarke as a batsmen in Australia. Every shot, pace or spin. Can score big.
Had a disastrous 2012 on and off field.
Lets hope in 2013 he can score a power of runs and work his way back into the test team. There is a spot or two there for him, if he wants it.

Was really good last night, hit plenty off the middle and played genuine cricket shots early, feet were moving well (albeit against some trash bowling), and teed off near the finish.

Attitude is a worry, but never doubted his talent. As long as he knuckles down, don't think he's far off the National team.

As a batsman he's an out n out gun. It's what's between the ears that's the problem. A bloke of his ability should be in the current Australian test side. Has a stack more ability than Ed Cowan but doesn't have any where near the application that Ed has. Hopefully he gets his act together before it's too late.

Ed hasn't shown much application lately, though. With an apparent lack of natural talent he'll have to graft out a few big scores in India to keep the doubters at bay.

20/20 & one day specialist. Should be in the Aus team in those form of the game.
