Kevin has been told his services are no longer needed ...his contract will not be renewed, will coach on til the end of this season though , and his final farewell will be at the MCG.

it's also strongly mentioned that sheed's will stay on as a mentor with Essendon , and GET THIS ! - it's also been mentioned that Voss will now be taking the Job at Essendon !

What a disgrace I have always admired the classy way Essendon dealt with things this is horrible. After 27 years he deserves more than this there are more important things in football.

more info , there's uncomfirmed reports , that in fact Sheed's has already finished coaching his last game already. which obviously blows the theory that he'll at least coach til' the end of season .

He would have behaved the same way after Round 22 even if we lost the next 6 games.

It had to come to this. He was never going to make it easy for us.

ESSENDON coach Kevin Sheedy was sacked this morning after 27 years at Windy Hill.

The veteran coach was called to a 10am meeting with football staff including list manager Adrian Dedorio and club champion James Hird.

Sheedy is the fourth AFL coach to be axed in recent weeks after Neale Daniher (Melbourne), Chris Connolly (Fremantle) and Denis Pagan (Carlton).

I hate Essendon with a passion, but that is a stupid, stupid decision.

This is an absoloute disgrace, i love Essendon and i love Keving Sheedy and that fat c**t of a president Ray Hornsborough has made the biggest blunder in AFL history. Here is a successful coach of 26 years with 4 premierships under his belt. He has done so much for the AFL and for the Essendon Football Club. I cannot see us now making the finals for a long time now
