If Hams goes for his shirtfront on Armfield , then the Bump is no more !

Hams and Armfield would have collided anyway trying to contest the loose ball , its just that Hams run past the ball in the collision with Armfield .
The hit wasn't high but forceful ... so the only problem is that Ashton ran past the ball .

I'm hoping Hams gets one week reduced to a reprimand for good behaviour over his career ( 9 games :p )

I was just this second searching to see if there'd been any word on this. Who knows what the MRP will do. I didn't think there was any head contact but hitting his neck and shoulder may perhaps still get him suspended. I hope not as he's been great the last few weeks and we could use him this week.

If the contact isn't deemed high - he can't be suspended!

He'll go though - the footage of Armfield being carted off to hospital is worth 2 weeks down to 1 with a plea

Didn't hit him in the head so he shouldn't and Andrew Walker got off the week before for doing almost the exact same thing. HOWEVER, with all this in mind the mrp might just be feeling grouchy today so 10 years in prison isn't out of the question.

Very hard to tell. I think the ambulance action will have more to do with it than the actual contact, to be honest. I'd guess 2 down to 1 as well.

Unsure how I feel about it all - if Armfield had done that to Hams we'd all be saying "Give him 3!!1!", so...

They'll probably view it as Negligent conduct, High impact, High Contact as it was on the shoulder... or would that be classed as Body?

The first would be 325 pts! The latter 225 pts. Minus 25% with an early plea he's still looking at a suspension of at least a week.

The only way we could be saved is if they deem the impact medium (seeing Armfield didnt move and had to be stretchered off and in an ambulance that's unlikely) and the contact was to the body.

Interesting read on the Carlton forum - most think he should be let off.

Particularly those at the game

If the contact was to the body - it isn't a reportable offence.

I'm not promoting injury or violence but I think Woosha would have been immensely proud of that bump by Hamsy , if nothing else Hams is in Woosha's good books now !

IMHO, the real problem is that he ran past the ball. He was going for the ball, but at the last second played the man instead. If he was laying a sheppard to help clear a path for another player, he might have been justified in his actions. But he was the only Eagles player directly going into the contest.

Nice to see a player with a bit of mongrel about the way he plays. But I would have been happier if he'd gone in hard for the BALL, rather than just trying for a good bump.

Compare that to Strijk... the poor bugger took his eyes off the ball for a millisecond... spots an oncomming opposition player... but STILL commits to the ball. He could have baulked the contest, OR braced for impact and just played the man. But he still went after the ball.

Love the way both of these guys go about their football... but Strijk is just that little bit better.

Armfield walked off didn't he? Groggily and with support and after being down for some time, but I thought he walked off.

Armfield came back onto the ground but reinjured himself in a incident so I was told ... was then taken to Hospital via the Ambulance .

Kept playing, then jogged off, had some work done to his shoulder, came back on, played a bit more, then decided to come off and get stretchered to hospital...

How can he get 3 weeks after the carlton player last week did the same thing!
