FFS, do a little research, you dont have to look far. A>He will be punished by the courts. B>There is further punishment from the club to come after the outcome. Most likely in the form of community service.

The court was told Hurley kicked and punched his victim and put him in a headlock but the footballer said he had no memory of the incident.

Yeah so Hurley lied in front of a court of law? You've never been so blind drunk that you basically lose all memory? I have and looking back, it's a very scary thing to happen - I could've done anything and I wouldn't have known any better.

If I had done something like Hurley and could not remember a thing about it, I would be horrified and I'd imagine that Hurley is too.

The reality is, in life, there are going to be disputes - and if you don't have the ability to defend yourself against a drunk guy, you shouldn't be driving a cab in the first place.

Someone guilty of such an offence probably should do time. But those who are very rarely do time, particularly from a first offence. If you visit a magistrates court you'll see that a 19 year-old with a good record is almost no chance of being put away. This episode stinks of the Australian government and media trying to appease the Indian education dollar.
