North got a stack more picks, even if had to trade them not sure how this is better.Huh? This is better than North’s package? Didn’t they have to trade all their picks?

Mustn't have been much blowback from clubs then, after the shitstorm when they announced North's package.

that's got to be the best read of the AFL and how they work, nailed itThat's not how the AFL work. They leak through the press (happened a bit a week or so ago and then much more directly yesterday), wait to assess blow-back and then make it formal. I'm not hearing much blow-back from yesterday, so I expect what they reported to be made official later today:
-4 rookie spots for NGA/FS (not sure if we can pre-list)
-end of R1 PP (not required to be traded)
Nailed that.If there’s no pre-listing I think eagles will move one or two players to the rookie list to give flexibility in relation to our NGAs.
Barnett is an obvious candidate
Not expecting any bids before around pick 40, 3rd round so as long as we have a list spot and pick if they are bid on we take them with the next pick I believe? If we don't get NGA free hits, what late picks will we need to hold onto to match Banfield walley Williams? This will dilute our attempt to package up picks for points to suns port pick...so splitting pick 1 just became more likely.
Didn’t think we’d get anything so I’ll take it.
Doesn’t mean we can’t ask for more next year if need be. I sure as shit hope we won’t need to though.
The 'more to come...' has been removed now. They added some statements from Pyke.Nailed that.
In the AFL release/website says more to come, which I hope is pre-listing some NGA players.
But I believe you are correct in that a couple of players may be moved to the rookie list.
Interesting part of Pyke's statement is that "We also continue to invest significantly in our Football Department, above the Soft Cap, and are building a strong development culture to improve our current situation as quickly as possible."The 'more to come...' has been removed now. Doesn't seem like pre-listing NGAs is part of the deal. Although no clarity yet around whether or not all 4x Rookie spots are Cat-A or a mix of Cat-A and Cat-B. So I guess there are still more details to come.

If they're generic Cat-A rookie spots, the logical three would be Barnett, Harvey Johnston and (if he's staying) Jamie Cripps. I'd also see if we can take the piss out of it all and rookie list Elliot Yeo, as he will be retired before the extra spaces are supposed to evaporate. If there’s no pre-listing I think eagles will move one or two players to the rookie list to give flexibility in relation to our NGAs.

Agreed and If Merret is going then Essondon will trade with us for pick 1 or 2 you could almost guaranteeSo who can we actually trade up with now?
Gold Coast are going for Petracca and Curnow so will they even have picks left to move up?
Saints offering up their first in a deal for Flanders so they are out.
Hawks will use their pick for Merrett
Carlton is a potential option due to Dean. However if Curnow goes they are more likely to trade up themselves and get a high pick in before Dean than back down the order.
Swans will want to get a pick in before King so unlikely they’ll trade back
Maybe Dogs but they are going hard for Wilkie so you’d imagine their first will be involved in that if successful.
I think we’ll have quite a few clubs coming hard for pick 2 but it might be difficult to package up our later picks and move up to a top 10 pick.

Because Peel has a reserves side it is less impactful on them . As a stand alone we definitely could do with extra rookie picks permanentThat said, the Eagles and Freo should be asking for at least two permanent extra spaces on the list to cater for the travel burden. If nothing else, it would mean that travelling emergencies do less damage to the WAFL team's available numbers.
Sure, but the reason the WA clubs should be in solidarity here is that both clubs benefit from this concession. It's not like we're cannibalising each other. And if both ask, then it's way more likely to be successful.Because Peel has a reserves side it is less impactful on them . As a stand alone we definitely could do with extra rookie picks permanent

More of the WA clubs working together to get the best deal for WA clubs would be a good thing.
