Cal Twomey just said on trade radio that he expects compo to be four rookie spots, 2 for NGA, 2 for older players possibly. Also an end of R1 draft pick that doesn't have to be traded. He said package could be announced by AFL at any moment in the next 48 hours...

any mention of pre-listing NGA? that's the real necessity for us.

He was a bit vague, said that two could be for NGA prospects without saying whether we could pre-list them or not. Said the other 2 spots could be used for players like Dev/ Tom Berry

I reckon whether it has to be traded or not, we should be trading it. We should be trying to bundle picks to move up the order and an end of first on top of our hawks pick and our second would put us in prime position to get GC's currently pick 6.

To take this further, hopefully the AFL has mediated with GC to ensure this happens (so we are given a strong priority pick without appearing so). Wishful thinking I know but it’s not beyond the AFL I reckon.

Well what’s the point of extra CatB’s if pre listing isn’t included?

So we have 2 extra spots for players who no-one else wants to draft?

That would make no sense at all.

Well i guess it allows us to have more depth but yeah its not much value

We can already pre-list NGA players if they aren't selected in the National Draft.

The ability to pre-list before the National Draft seems unlikely and I can't find any mention of it outside of this board.

I've always contended that our club could do with extra list spots as travelling emergency players dilute our wafl side . 2 extra NGA spots so better chance that they develop . 2 extra spots for delisted playes or a late speculative pick also helps our depth and wafl side and increases chance of finding a diamond in the rough . I like the 4 rookie spots , thats 4 less ammos in the wafl side .

I thought it may have been mentioned in the media at some point but can recall. However gc in their struggles got the same luxury.

It also helps that eagles NGA arent expected to go high this year.

Let’s see where it lands. Hopefully we get an announcement tonight

EAGLES LIST ASSISTANCE PACKAGE DETAILS

The Eagles are expected to land an end-of-first-round draft pick as the headline asset in their AFL list assistance this off-season.

They’re also set to benefit from up to four additional rookie list spots to house Next Generation Academy prospects and experienced players, according to AFL Media’s Cal Twomey via AFL Trade Radio on Monday.

The AFL Commission is set to confirm the assistance afforded to West Coast at some point over the next 24-48 hours.

“My expectation and understanding is that ... West Coast will get up to four rookie positions,” Twomey told Trade Radio.

“So, a couple of those might be for access to academy players or father-sons, Category B players, NGA players that they’ve got access to. And a couple of those list spots might also be eligible to be used on more mature options.

“The big bit is whether they get an extra pick, and my expectation is they will get an extra pick at the end of the first round ... I think it will be (used) to do with what they want, that’d be my expectation.”

The Eagles currently hold picks 1, 15, 19, 33 and 51 at November’s national intake and are expected to add the no.2 overall pick as compensation for free agent Oscar Allen’s departure to Brisbane.

But West Coast is also considered increasingly likely to lure dual premiership Lions defender Brandon Starcevich as a free agent, which could dilute the compensation it receives from the league.

The club has also been linked to out-of-contract West Australian midfielder Deven Robertson — who’s been out of favour at Springfield for multiple seasons — in a potential addition that could be housed with one of those extra list spots.

It is kinda fun pissing off 17 other fan bases gotta admit.

To be fair, some of your supporters told us to go forth and multiply when we stuck the cup out. :p

Angry supporters don't count for spit though.

Oh I think most of us are - in principle - anti-PP/assistance.

But "equalisation" has failed. The draft is compromised, free agency doesn't help those at the bottom get better, & some clubs get academy perks that others don't.
