I saw him play yesterday (not for the first time), and I was VERY impressed with what I saw.

Just for those who don't know, McLean is a hard at it midfielder with decent skills and a big body. He doesn't have pace, but he never gives up and always puts the team first.

Sound like the kind of player we need?

I wouldn't take him at #3, but I would seriously consider taking him at #5. He may not be the 5th best player available, but he would add more to our team than somone like Raphael Clarke, Andrew Walker or Troy Chaplin (who are meant to go around pick 5).

Going for needs over best available is risky, but McLean can play and has been compared to a young Jason Johnson.

I would love to have him at Melbourne.

He is tough which we need, but we will take sylvia and either clarke/bradley..

So unless we trade for another top 10 pick, or he's still there at twenty, whci he wont be, doesnt look like he'll be a demon..

I wouldn't touch Clarke with somebody elses bargepole. He's desperate to play for St. Kilda so his heart won't be in it at any other club. We'll just end up flogging him off to the Saints in some kind of ****weak trade after a year anyway - and we certainly won't get something like a #5 draft pick for him then.

We need hard-men, not show ponies.

Indeed!

Jeez that Demon 37's bright spark isn't he Lamby?;)

I have no problems with us drafting to suit our needs, anything else would be stupid imo.

We desperately needed toughness & we've got it in Col & Brock.
:p

At first I was a bit surprised we took Brock, but I'm rapt to have him at the club. He is as tough as you want to get and and I've heard he's a great bloke off the field (which is crucial - just look at TJ).

I've heard from my close mate (who is a friend/neighbour of Dean Laidley) that the Kangaroos wouldn't have even taken Brock McLea with their last pick.

So I hope he has a blinder against the Roos!!!

The Brockinator is ready to prove the Kangaroos wrong!

I'd doubt your mate is that close to Laidley because that's a pretty stupid comment. One of the two is an idiot & I'd doubt it's Laidley.

:)

I don't doubt this, I know for a fact they are close. I've been to Dean's house, spoken to him and his family. My friend is even closer, neighbours for 10 years and close family friends and he always tells him a bit of stuff about the footy.

Still sounds like crap to me Lamby, no offence to your mate.
