Yes I accept that the footy Gods are not smiling on us however regardless I still believe that we can learn some lessons from the Swans

In 2009 the Swans struggled to be competitive and a key reason was that I believe that they kept some aging stars one year too long, in particularly Micky O, Barry and one or two others

However in the off season I believe the Swan's have used the trade better than any other club and traded for young players hungry for an opportunity rather than established stars and now players like McGlynn and Mumford are repaying the club's faith

I know it is only early however my concern is that player like Edwards have kicked on one year to many, there is no doubt that Edwards has dropped a half a yard of pace and Craigy has already admitted that the game is even quicker than 2009, surely this leaves us exposed.

I do believe we have some young talent on our list however we need to start playing the likes of Davis / Young in preference to Hentschel and as Sydney did start using the trade period wisely to attract those young players that are hungry for an opportunity, such as a McGlynn

Not much we can do about our list now, however maybe at the selection table it is time to plan for the future
