Simple question, hasn't been discussed much...

Should we keep Andrew Lee for next year?

He's been injured for the last few seasons in which has restricted him from playing more than a game at all. Under Sheedy it looked like he was just a future investment for plans of a few seasons ahead of 2006.

He's 196cm, 90kgs, 22 years of age, can play HB/HF and possibly FB...

We badly need defenders for the future and he could possibly be that prospect for us...

I thought he would have been delisted like "THAT" last season but Knighta obviously saw something in him.

DISCUSS!

We would be hipocrictile if we didn't keep him as we keep Johns for song long

is he eligible to be rookie listed?

i think he should be delisted and see how the draft goes - if nothing better around re-draft or rookie him if thats do-able.

No. Had a gutful of him. The club hasn't even mentioned why he is out for the rest of the season when 3 weeks back he was destined to play with Bendigo:confused: Delist.

we are going to have to draft a record amount of players at the way we are going

mal
JJ
pev
rama
lee
johns
lovett

all told they will be gone at seasons end (lovett and rama is still a bit of speculation though).

Agreed.
There is a lot of Dons heading off...

And we don't need to worry about a source when Merv says something.
It's Merv, FFS.

It would not be considered hypocritical. It would be called learning from past mistakes. Sure it's bad luck that injuries have never given him a chance, but thats life. Do you risk him another year? I say no, his track record suggests his body is not up to it. Better to cut him loose.

I realise we will need to start asking the same questions about Gumby and Dempsey at some stage. The big difference is we have had a taste of what they can do. In Lees case, we won't miss what we never had.

Don't forget Atkinson should get promoted off the rookie list

Lovett's been so good for us as a player...

And the only reason we're getting rid of him is because he missed a few training sessions.

He's had trouble with a past girlfriend which included him going to court but thats his own business & wasn't even mentioned in the tabloids.

If the rumours are true then that's just plain soft of us.

He must have done more than miss a few training sessions to be put up as trade bait.

Yeah, I would really hate to see Lovett go. It looks like there'll be at least six spots freed up on the list anyway so it's not like we're trying to squeeze him in or anything, but I do hope the "trade scare" does make him pull his head in a bit.

Wrong thread son.

I reckon de-list him. He hasnt been able to get on the park for 3 years. Also this is meant to be a strong draft and the last uncompromised draft before the Gold Coast come in. They need to maximise their picks and should promote Atkinson.

We need to look at it properly here people. we are jumping a little ahead of our selves arent we.

We have already given the marching orders to:

Jason Johnson
Mal Michael
Damian Peverill (although I would like to see another year)
Courtney Johns

Also:

Danny Chartress - Gone, does not really have a defined position,
Dean D*** - They have had enough of his lethargic attitud at Bendigo
John Williams - Can do the spectacular but goes missing for large parts also.

You also have the pending retirements of:

Dustin Fletcher in the next few years,

so in total, we going to have a turn over of (i think) 5 key position players in the next two years, and we all know that taller youngsters take a little longer, yes we found a dud one with Johns, but hey, that is the risk you take.

We will need Lee, he is young, a second round draft pick IMO, so he must be able to play, give it time people. we need all the tall stocks down back, including Lee. He is going to be am important player, along with the other key defenders we need to get out on the park (Pears, Hooker) just cause he has had his injury struggles, so what, wasnt James hird a little injury prone, look how he turned out, a handy little player, from all reports, Lee needs to just be given a chance by not us, but his body to really show us what he can do, and then let it go, he'll be a star (i hope).

If we can. Lee could hold down CHB, and Pears CHB, allowing Ryder to play elsewhere, and gives us good depth if we decide to draft Hurley, but for mine, dont let Lee go, we have shown too much faith in him thus far.
