They are top knotch games these days, always close, bit of controversy and gutsy. Move aside Pies V Bombers, Freo V WCE (overrated IMO), the showdown is the game to watch.

Yep 12-12, although we have the most important one, the 'dream final' the Ultimate Showdown and we won it by 83 points!

We are also 147 points ahead in the total.

I must confess ... I thought the Showdowns had lost their lustre ... things were getting too friendly between the two sides ... the rivalry had gone replaced by other rivalries like Crows vs Eagle, Power vs Magpies.

I went to the ANZAC Day clash last year ... maybe this and the Western Derby have taken over from the Showdown as the season's marquee match up I thought ...

How wrong I was!!!! And how glad I am!!!! For the record, the Showdown left last year's ANZAC Day clash for dead!

One of the greatest grudge matches of all time, Gerard Healy summed it up beautifully after the game: "a modern day classic".

I am already looking forward to the return bout ... let's fill that stadium with red, blue and gold and be the extra man for the AFC again!!!

In all honesty the final derby of last year was a cracker. And maybe Showdowns were becoming a tad boring but we have won 7 of the last 8 and I dont give a ratstossbag what anyone thinks when we play those idiotic morons as long as we win. Let showdown 25 be played infront of 25000 bored patrons, let it rain and if we win that is all that matters.
