According to a HeraldSun report today Sidebottom is equal second in betting to win the Rising Star

could have something to do with the amount of collingwood supporters that would be splashing money on it.

does anyone know if ben reid is still eligible, and if so, his odds... i think our young brigade will be considered the best in the AFL after wwe win the flag this year...

Under 21 and played less than 10 games so I think that would make him eligible. Don't know what his odds are.

thanks.. seems to me that its looking very good for us in terms of winning a second rising star for our trophy cabinet...

I have 3 certainties for my dream team this year - Gary Ablett, Dean Cox and Steele Sidebottom.

And Ramere ... I need an extension on a school assignment, can you use your heavyweight status and get ASAP response too. he he.

who is the first?

He could only possibly be thinking of Bucks but that would be wrong as he was playing for Brisbane when he won it. No Pies has ever won the award, although one should have.....

LOL, my powers only extend to betting agencies, they're always happy to oblige as they think "here comes some easy money...." ;)

im not 100% but i think ried is not eligable on the account that he has been in the afl system for over 2 years i think only 1st and 2nd year players are eligable.

I don't think that's correct. I think the cut-off point is if you are over the age of 21 and have played more than 10 games. Reid is still 19/20 and has only played 6 career games. Therefore he still remains eligible.

Wellingham? or too many games?

Wellingham however has played 12 career games making him ineligible.

If he wasn't eligible he wouldn't be on the betting list.

This is from the AFL site...

To qualify for the NAB AFL Rising Star nomination, a player must be under 21 years of age as at January 1 of that year, must not have played more than 10 games to the start of that season and must not have been suspended by the AFL or State League tribunals during the season.

Tom Swift at $41 is a good number. If his knees hold up, he will stand out like dogs balls.

IF!!!

Not wanting to wish the kid any misfortune, but I just don't want to see him become a gun. Good/average....ok, but not too good. ;)

Thats the worst market I have ever seen. Some moron from nsw or qld must have written it buts its got some good value.

McCarthy at $101 is unbelievable and Reid is great value also. For mine the best value bet is Masten at $21. I have no idea how he can be longer odds than scott selwood when he looked twice the player in his first year.

I agree, $101 for J-Mac does look juicy.

I think the $15 for Rich is pretty attractive myself. He looks ready made as he's played against men for 2 years, and I can see him playing most games. His kicking will help him stand out.
