RICHMOND ruckman Troy Simmonds has pulled out of Friday night’s AFL clash with Collingwood at the MCG because of a virus which has put him in hospital.
The club said Simmonds had been suffering from a virus which had affected his breathing and he was hospitalised last night.
But the Tigers said Simmonds' problem was believed to be a short-term one.
"He entered hospital last night as a precautionary measure to undergo some medical testing," the club said in a statement on Friday.
"The club will give an update on Troy's health when it has the result of those tests, but expects this is only a short-term problem."
It is the latest setback for Simmonds, who missed the start of the season with a broken ankle and has managed just 10 matches for the struggling Tigers this season.

Could angus and pattison be the youngest ruck combination in the history of AFL?

Yeah its gunna be interesting indeed! I hope simmo has a speedy recovery from this virus, at the same time, it gives him another week to get his previous injuries all fixed up

Jackson, Krakouer and Howat are all emergencies...

If it rains, krakouer will come in..

But otherwise its hard to guess between the three

Jackson Jackson Jackson, give the boy another run! he will give us a bit of inspiration through some nice marks

Riewoldt is also out

I tell you what, Terry Wallace has to be one of the slackest coaches ever by not choosing at least 1 KPP player in Huges or Schultz as an emergency. Even Pat Bowden would give us more hieght up foward. Jackson and Howatt aren't going to win us any games.

Howatt is an unacoutable wingman and Jackson is a half arsed tagger, but with Collingwood having no superior midfielders to tag he will probably play fullfoward.

The team we are are fielding tonight has just gotten ALOT worse

With Simmonds and Riewoldt gone we potential have 3 players in Brown, Richo and Pettifer who can kick more then 3 goals in a game. I'm kind of hoping either Joel Bowden or Deledio play full foward for most of the night
