RICHMOND ruckman Troy Simmonds has pulled out of Friday night’s AFL clash with Collingwood at the MCG because of a virus which has put him in hospital.
The club said Simmonds had been suffering from a virus which had affected his breathing and he was hospitalised last night.
But the Tigers said Simmonds' problem was believed to be a short-term one.
"He entered hospital last night as a precautionary measure to undergo some medical testing," the club said in a statement on Friday.
"The club will give an update on Troy's health when it has the result of those tests, but expects this is only a short-term problem."
It is the latest setback for Simmonds, who missed the start of the season with a broken ankle and has managed just 10 matches for the struggling Tigers this season.
Could angus and pattison be the youngest ruck combination in the history of AFL?
