That has nothing to do with it.
I'm a pragmatist.

You see, I am prepared to go against the sheep mentality on the Peter Bell myth.
Any people on here with a genuine knowledge of the game will agree with me, privately.

It is not being negative . I am simply challenging the myth. Always will.

But to challenge a myth surely there has to be one.

What a waste of talent and a first round draft pick. The club has probably made the right call.

Ryley Dunn was a huge disappointment for me.

Marcus Drum was a bust also. About the same time as Dunn and Ryan Murphy too so a lot of the clubs hopes went down the toilet with those three. Murphy at least played the odd reasonable game of AFL but they were few and far between.

Who could forget Ryan Murphy kicking our only goal against that game against Adelaide!?

My only clear memory of Murphy is kicking the goal that won us that preseason game against North in 2010 after a what memory tells me was a handball over the top from Hill. It sticks in the mind as it was the first time I really thought we might have something extra here with this squad.

He kicked our only goal against Adelaide in this memorable game:

:)

Sorry people.

IIRC he was dropped for the next game
Which was typical. The guy was never able to string together more than three or four games, which is appalling when you consider some of the absolute spuds being patronised games for Freo these days. I always thought he was a beautiful kick and needed the club to show faith and let him get used to the AFL level.

What spuds are being selected over other players these days?

As a kid in the early 2000s, I used to get David Mundy and Ryan Murphy constantly confused. Both had that perfectly angled leg when they kicked, had constantly shit fluffy hair, and were right about the same build – the names didn't help either. Good old David Murphy on half back and Ryan Mundy kickin snags.

Yeah at the time I used to get frustrated at Connelly not giving Murphy more games. he did actually show a bit of promise early on.

the problem with Murphy is he had no football abillity, or temperament for the big show.

I remember at one point people started talking what an accurate set shot he was. As soon as that happened old Murph couldn't hit the side of a barn.

Probably the biggest disappointment for me over the years was Clem Michael. I grew up cheering for his father at Souths as one of the greatest players of his era - if Clem had have gone half as far as Stephen it would have been good. Unfortunately injury and very possibly club mismanagement of this injury meant he never scaled these heights.

how is ryan going nowadays? he sneaks into our BF recruiting model (i.e. tallish). should we give him a 2nd go? :)
Yeah whilst we are at it let's also bring back kiwi Campbell to crash some packs lol.

Yep, once it was mentioned he had kicked 14 in a row over 5 weeks he kicked 4.7 over the next 3

It was Ballantyne. Combination between Hill, Mayne, and Ballas with Murphy on the end.

Also Fyfe's first time in a Freo guernsey.

Murphy was built for footy of yesteryear... not overly fast, not overly strong, ok in a straight line out of the goal square and generally a good shot at goal. Pretty much useless as footy changed in the 2000's.

Wasnt even very dominant in WAFL footy after he got the arse
