And of course there's a correlation.. just like there'd be a correlation between people who like Britney and Christina or people who liked Snow Patrol and Coldplay. I don't really see the point of your comment other than to advertise your personal prejudice against GnR and AC/DC which limits your objectivity somewhat when discussing the prowess of their respective guitarists.. I would've thought.

Slash is an extremely talented guitarist.

Prince is an extremely talented musician.

I am not a huge GnFnR fan and I've never even listened to Velvet Revolver or Snakepit.

Prince is a great guitarist too don't worry about that, he doesn't get the recognition he deserves. Another one who doesn't is John Mayer, great great guitarist under all teh pop stuff and famous chicks!

And yeah, Slash is a very good player too, plays great sounding solos without overblowing the technical stuff, very influential too.

Brilliant. Loved every minute of it.

Keep in mind that he was playing with Tom Petty and Jeff Lyne, along with Harrison's son, who are brilliant musicians in their own right and so they add to the overall affect. Clapton, who played the solo in the original version of How My Guitar Gently Weeps, would be impressed by Prince.

Clapton's performance of How My Guitar Gently Weeps, from Concert for George, is simply awesome. Watch this soon as it will no doubt be taken down from youtube in the next few days. Also, Concert for George is one of the best albums I have heard.

I can respect he has talent but on the whole I don't see what others see.

As far as contemporary guitar virtuouso's go, I'd rather listen to John Frusciante or Omar Rodriges-Lopez over Slash.

If you enjoy then get a hold of the 1968 Farewell Concert and the 2005 Reunion. I have both and they are brilliant.

Yeah, I am watching that on the abc. Hendrix is brilliant, but I just prefer to listen to Clapton.

In terms of modern guitarists my favourites are Morello and Trucks. Morello gets criticised for screwing around with his guitar, but I like it.

Agree with Hendrix being the most influential guitarist. Glad you mentioned Knopfler as he is way up there in my list of favourite guitarists. I saw him when he was out here a few years ago and he was great.

Massive 70's prog rock fan even though he's a funky punka.

Was in the mojo prog rock magazine.

Wrote an intro about how much he loved prog rock.

i just read slash´s autobiography...very good read...pretty amazing life. all it does is re affirm the notion that axl is a tool.

Knopfler's an amazing song writer aswell though. Just writes these incredibly atmospheric folk/rock tunes. I love alot of the stuff on his newer albums. (Je Suis Desole, Border River).

Telegraph Road (especially live) is one of my favourite songs of all time....

He just cuts it up in this version.

There are far better guitarists in the world who make far better music than he does. The bands he plays for are irrelevent. Just stating that GnR are shit.
