Slattery is not an AFL standard player

Dyson was on Pendlebury for the most part. Get your facts right before posting crap.

Slattery was our best today and was our only player that played with the Anzac spirit.

The OP has no clue and is on a Slattery, Michael vendetta. Pity he can't see the forest from the trees. ;)
ouch i think i hit a nerv, self preservation instaed of sacrificing is own game for the good of the team isnt really my thoghts of anzac spirit

Why is he still in the team?

Terrible decision maker.

Terrible disposal.

Doesn't attack the ball the way he should 100% of the time.

Lacks confidence.

Get's killed week in week out by his opponent.

What does Knight's see in this guy?

Is he not a total spud?

He should not be in the team and if he continues to be picked to play in defence we will not win any games.
He is still in the team because the things he does are very good.

What keeping Brad Johnson to 1 goal is getting killed by your opponent.
Keeping Daniel Kerr to 15 touches is getting killed by your opponent

No he is not a spud. People have a bad year.
When Lucas first started out i remember people saying that he isnt going to be an AFL standard played.Slattery atm, is just having an ordinary start to the year. Leave the kid alone. He'll come around

He hasn't even played 50 games... you won't see any improvement from him until he plays around 80. I also thought he was one of our better players yesterday. He played on didak who has been collingwoods best or second best player this year. Didak took a lot of uncontested stuff around ground that was the result of our lacking midfield pressure.

The only player we could bring in for Slattery is Atkinson and if you have seen his disposal you'll know why he is still on the rookie list and in the magoos.

He can have all the 'ANZAC spirit' he likes but the reality, is that he completely lacks talent, awareness and any of the skills required of an AFL Footballer.

It's the sentence that ends with a question mark.
About 4 posts up, sorry I'm asking you to concentrate too hard here
All I ask is that people argue against what I am saying, not what they think I am saying or expect me to be saying

No need to be condescending about it, champ. I didn't notice the post you are refering to. I assume this is the one you are talking about:

Isn't this the point of re-building? Trying out youngsters, giving them a few years, then chucking them out if they were no good?

Yes the point of rebuilding is to inject the younger players into the team and develop them but if they are no good they are no good. He is never going to be anything more than a very ordinary footballer and i would rather see other young players developed in his position. Throw Houli down there at times and build up the defensive side of his game. Bring in Myers and play him down back. I think another thing that you are failing to recognise is that Slattery is now a 22 year old in his 4th season of AFL football. How much time would you like to give him? You say that we should give tghem a few years before deciding their fate, how many is a few? It is not like he is a 18-19 year old kid who is in his first or second season. So to answer you question, i have no doubt that Slattery will not be part of our next premiership tilt and therefore do need see him as part of the rebuild.

Let's all hang our hats on the one decent game that he played for the Bombers last year when he did a reasonable job on Kerr.

Keeping Johnson to one goal does not paint the true picture. He was woeful against the Bulldogs and some of his second efforts were embarrassing. I assume that you were also at the ground and saw some of the half arsed efforts he made to put himself into the contest? And why do people keep refering to Slattery as a kid? He is a 22 year old in his 4th season of AFL footy.

I think you have summed it up perfectly.

When he tags someone they get 20 to 30 touches.

He has been around long enough it's probably time he showed something.

Still hope but like I said he is probably into his 4th year now time is running out.

Erroneous! ;)
Who's going to come in and play back pocket?
This one

I think a lot of people are discounting how knackered we are with injuries. Taking out "development" types like Bellchambers, discounting guys who are on the comeback trail from injury... we've got about 3 or 4 players who can come in

Still don't think 22 is necessarily scrap-heap age... quite a few players came good well after that. If he plays to the same level as he did on friday, he'll stay on. If he puts in more woeful performances like the first few games of the year, out the door

Would much see midfielders in the midfielders etc than throwing guys all round the park. cf Winders on Friday, didn't work & I doubt it helped from a development point of view
