Well that was interesting a very promising start to the game marred by one of the worst 3QTR performance i have EVER seen by any club and in general one of the worst 2nd halves i can recall at one point it was 12 unanswered goals.

Heeney and Warner along with Grundy and Francis all had very promising starts to the game but it was a false dawn.

Injuries sure but the players that did take the field after HT (????) how do you go from applying pressure and intensity to not being able to walk again Lynch mentioned players were throwing up in the rooms (???) oh and we got another soft tissue injury.

Did we hire the Carlton fitness staff?

Blakey/Lloyd/Jmac my god... you dont want the ball in their hands infact you dont want them anywhere near the ball at all.

Yer dont expect many wins this year.

We have great facilities in Sydney that will fix all our concerns

Three games in the heat and we have struggled in all of them , not convinced we are fit this year.
Gold Coast look like a 4th to 8th sort of team possibly they could sneak the four with their draw. They were better organised , stronger and did the basics well. We just wilted in the second half.
Cleary looked good at times , Campbell had a good first half. Bice is always trying to be positive with the ball doesn't always work but I like his endeavour.
We are playing like a bottom four team occasionally showing some quality but dropping off shockingly at times.
Mcl ...just horrible. Should get a spell for that game. Lloyd not much better . Roberts probably gets the benefit of the doubt but needs to clean up his disposals. Rampe just looks off the pace and without it he can't intercept or spoil the same way as he used to.
Would drop Ladhams and bring back Hamling keep Francis up forward. Would nice to see a Snell or Edwards get a run.

Campbell shouldn't be in there in the middle. Needs to be Cleary Warner Rowbottom and Heeney in the midfield for the foreseeable season. And play the kids at this point. Snell in for Rampe imo

I am inclined to agree about Snell. Looked very composed in the 2s. However, the saving grace for Rampe is that we just lost another back in Paton and we need to find a replacement.I would suggest that we bring in Leidler too, who looks likely, but he needs more match fitness.

Yep I agree. Throw McCartin and Rampe in there too. Grundy was cooked in the second half. Time for him to have a break.

Positives few and far between but Francis up forward has been surprisingly good. He's presenting really well, clean with his disposal and working hard. Chad had a good game but after half time, his mates deserted him. CC in the middle looked promising. Lizard up forward looked sharp.

But what a disappointing day. We just wilted under GC sun........

This team is not just ordinary. We are shit. It is not just the lack of players. Cox is not an in match coach. He can't seem to make moves that change momentum. He makes moves but after the bus had already gone. Moves Blakey too late. Probably should not have put Francis back. I thought Francis was giving us something even when we were down. He at least made a lead to position.

This experiment has been an abject failure. Do we have to put up with another 3.5 years of this? A good coach can motivate a team. This bloke can't seem to do that. He is not an intelligent coach. At half time Hardwicke did not give the huge pep talk and yell a lot like Cox did. He was measured. I don't think Cox has the skills to coach in match.

Felt like we saw the demise of Bloods culture today.

2025 is over, we need to focus on 26 …. Start transitioning Lloyd and McInerny, get searching for some mid field ball winners and players who embrace the contact and fight.

Bloods culture died on grand final day 2014.
Since then there has been a gradual shift in the teams identity away from grit, hard work, whole team buy-in to defence and contest and towards talent and individual brilliance. Our drafting has reflected this.

Over the past 10 years we’ve become a team that is more and more reliant on our top-end talent. Which has included some all time greats like Franklin and JPK, highlights machines like Heeney, Warner, Blakey and Gulden.

Its why when things are going well we can make grand finals but it only takes a few key injuries and loss of form to look a very average team.
