It was just a normal day in Small Town. The bakers were selling the freshly baked goods as they normally would. The flower shop beginning to sell freshly cut flowers. At least, it seemed like it would be a normal day…

A black limo with overly tinted windows drives through Main Street. This is different. No one of any sort of importance comes through Small Town. The limo goes to the back of the local hotel. No one sees who went into the hotel…

The locals are nervous. Who are these strangers in their town? Some turn to the Priest, asking him and God for guidance. Others, went to the bar. To talk and drink their nerves away. The mysterious Bar Owner likes this sudden increase in profit.

Yes it’s called Mafia as SM’s game was the Werewolf game to end all werewolf games.

This game will be done a little bit differently. There are 3 factions in the game: Mafia, The Bar and the Village. Each faction has their own, unique win condition. Only 1 faction can win. No factions can win together. Every person will have a role. Some are powerful, some are not. Some are powerful when used in certain circumstances. This is to encourage more strategy. A wasted action could cost your faction the game.

Day Time
Day Time is between 8am and 6pm Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT, Melbourne/Sydney time if you’re unsure. 5am, 3pm for Perth people). During this time you will vote on who to lynch. To lynch you must bold a user’s name with a 1-2 line reason for why you are lynching them. Quick guide:

Night Time
Night Time is between 6pm and 8am Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT, Melbourne/Sydney time if you’re unsure. 3pm, 5am for Perth people). This is where you will complete your Night Action in the role PM. To do this, follow the guide in your role PM.

Secrets
There are a few secrets in this game that will be revealed throughout the course of the game. Keep your eyes open for them.

Rules
1. Once you have died, do not post in the thread. You will be allowed 1 goodbye post that cannot impact the game in anyway. Any other posts will be reported and may lead to possible bans from future games. A dead PM will be available come Day 1
2. Players may not PM each other in anyway. You may only post in PMs created by the hosts. Some people may be able to talk to each other through game design. Anyone caught in outside communication will be Modkilled and may receive future bans.
3. Screenshotting of all kinds is prohibited.
4. You may not directly quote your role PM. Saying “I am a mafia/cop/doctor” is OK. Stating your night action is OK. Anything too similar to the direct quote will be punished.
5. If you fail to do your night action and vote in a lynch 2 days in a row you will be Modkilled.
6. If your night action involves a choice and you fail to use it, I will randomly pick it for you.
7. Since the game has so many night actions, the priorities for these have already been decided and will not be revealed.
8. Please remember that this game is an experiment. Designed to mix the current formula to see how it could work. Please only sign up if you wish to be active and not shit all over it during the game.

Mafia
The Mafia consists of:
Godfather – Choose who to kill each night
Right Hand Man – Investigates a user’s Night Action and Win Condition
Goons (x2) – Stalks a user to see who they targeted during the night.
To win, the Mafia must rule the town.

The Bar
The Bar consists of:
Bar Owner – Redirects one user’s night action
Bartender – Kills one user per night
Waitress – Asks if one user is village or mafia
To win, the Bar must increase profits.

Village
The village may consist of any amounts of any of the following:
Sheriff – Protects one user from non-lethal night actions, learns their win condition
Deputy – Every two nights receives special information
Mayor – Has a double lynch vote
Neighbours – No night action but can speak to each other.
Private-Eye – Investigates a user’s win condition
Grave robber – Uses a dead player’s role. Can’t use kills
Delinquent – Teen on the way to a life of crime
Flogs – No night action but can speak to each other. May receive clues
Doctor – Protects user from all actions
Busy Body – Watches a user to see who targeted them during the night.
Gossip – Receives gossip each night. May or may not be true.
Aggressive Vigilante – Kills each night
Revengeful vigilante – Kills only if a villager is lynched
Night Worker – Lynches during the night
Hooker – Stops a user’s night action
Bouncer – Protects a user from non-lethal night actions
Bulletproof Vest – Can be protected from 1 kill
Stalker – Stalks a user to see who they visited during the night
Copy-Cat – Copies a user’s action onto another user. Includes kills
Commute – May leave the town
Hippie – Can’t lynch vote, can only stop a target from killing. Can only be done twice.
Paranoid Gun Owner – Sleeps with a gun, kills who targets them
Priest – may protect a user from being killed
Bodyguard – Dies in the place of someone else.
To win the Village must be safe

Only the following roles may communicate:
All Mafia roles together
All The Bar roles together
Sheriff and Deputy
Neighbours
Flogs

Every faction has at least 1 of the following:
Kill
Seer/Investigation

To sign up please say “In” or some variety of that. The game will be strictly 28 players. Will be first in first served unless I have seen you disrupt previous werewolf games, in which you will not be picked.

Quick question, it mostly makes sense although we will all undoubtedly become confused.

However, two roles don't make sense to me:

Commute – May leave the town
Delinquent – Teen on the way to a life of crime

So the commute can just leave on day 1 and win? The delinquent is someone who will turn into mafia?

Please confirm Millky95 that villager won't be told their exact role? That has to be the case or else the game will be a replica of the failed Simpsons one.

There's an issue here though. Once the game is about mid-way in, people can claim what role they are and no one will dispute it. This leads to the evil being quickly discovered.


I think you shouldn't give the villagers their role until they die. That way, the ambiguity and anonymity of roles and players is still there as well as the sold storylines.

So we're allowed to say that we're the, let's say, PI?

That was the problem with the Simpsons game, those that are the villagers just said "I'm Nelson" or "I'm Janey" and it was way too easy to narrow it down.

You're allowed to say the broad family group you're a part of, I think.

I don't think people should be allowed to say that.

Need to give evil to hide by being able to say something generic without a whole bunch of people automatically knowing they are lying

Games structure won't work with anonymity. The game is a bit tougher for evil but still winnable. There are double ups so evil could hide behind any role and unless they are in a group convo (note: they wont. Two doctors for example won't know if the other is there). There are double roles I can assure you of that. There are some listed that will not be used. Evil has enough to hide.

You can, but why would someone believe you if some roles listed don't exist?

I thought about not listing the roles in the OP but was persuaded against that so everyone had an idea of what will happen at night

You still in? Its cool if you want out. Like I said in the OP its an experiment. I wanna see how this works. Most of the roles are edits of classics i have seen or made up myself or from Quiv. I know the Simpson one is there as an example. I wasn't here for that, i have seen games like this work in the past. I just wanna give it a shot. If it fails, so be it and in a few months maybe Ill host a proper one :p if it works? Maybe something good will happen haha

That is a possibility that I will not confirm or deny. Only pure numbers of roles I can say are the Mafia and Bar so everyone knows the "split" of good vs evil at the start
